GOLDEN EAGLETS SET FOR QUARTER FINAL SHOWDOWN WITH URUGUAY

Nigeria will play Uruguay in the quarter finals of the FIFA Under-17 World Cup after both countries qualified for the round of 8.

Uruguay, who scored 10 goals in their group stage, flew out of the blocks against Slovakia to lead 3-0 at half-time before the European nation fought back to finish with a more respectable scoreline of 4-2.

Not to be outdone, Nigeria, scorer of 14 goals in Group F, also led by a three-goal margin at the break before eventually claiming a 4-1 victory over Iran.

Meanwhile, South American juggernauts Argentina will meet Ivory Coast after a two-goal second-half salvo subdued Tunisia.

The Argentines took the lead in the second minute, but the African nation fought back, levelling the match in the shadows of half-time.

But Argentina booked their quarter final spot after Club Atletico Lanus defender Joaquin Ibanez and River Plate’s Sebastian Driussi came to the rescue.

Ivory Coast secured their place in the last eight with a 2-1 win over African rivals Morocco.

FIFA Under-17 World Cup Quarter Finals:
