10 PERSONS ELECTROCUTED WHILE VANDALISING POWER SUPPLY INSTALLATIONS.

No fewer than 10 persons were electrocuted while vandalising the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company installations last year even as 10 more were arrested.

This was disclosed by the Chief Risk and Compliance Officer of the company, Mr. Collins Chabuka, during a public safety sensitisation campaign in Lafia, Nasarawa State.

Chabuka said most of those that who were killed were either vandals or quack electricians who tampered with the installations at night.

These people, he added were either vandals or quack electricians, who were parading themselves around the Abuja community as staff of the organisation.

He said, “Those that died and those that were arrested were either vandals or quack electricians, who had been parading themselves around the Abuja community and vandalising our installations in the middle of the night illegally.

“The management of the AEDC has decided that there is a need to let the people be aware of the safe way and so our mission today is to engage with the members of the general public on things they can do with our installations and things they cannot do with our installations.”

He, however, said the organisation would prosecute vandals or quack electricians who had been parading themselves as AEDC workers, urging such individuals to desist from such illegal operations or face the full wrath of the law.
