A clergyman, Pastor Uwen Friday, has been sentenced to five years imprisonment by an Ekiadolor Magistrate’s Court sitting at Ekiadolor, Edo State, for defiling a 12- year-old girl.
Uwen was said to have defiled the victim at a farm in Okokhuo village in Ovia North East Local Government Area of the state. The defilement was also said to have resulted to a five-month pregnancy.
Uwen was arraigned on a one-count charge of unlawful sexual intercourse. He pleaded guilty to the charge when it was read to him.
The magistrate, F.I Oghoator, in her judgment, sentenced Pastor Uwen to five years imprisonment with hard labour without an option of fine.
Meanwhile, another pastor, Samson Odeyemi, has been arraigned at an Iguobazuwa Magistrate’s Court, Ovia South West Local Government Area of Edo State, for raping a married woman.
Police prosecutor, Again James, told the court that the offence was committed on the May 14 when the pastor allegedly took the victim to a river for spiritual cleansing.
