It seems Clarence Peters, the legendary Nigerian video producer has finally hooked one of the industry's best diva, Seyi Seyi........ Read below according to TheNet.
NET has learnt that popular video director, Clarence Peters, is having a romantic affair with Nigerian pop singer Seyi Shay.
Sources tell us the relationship is new as the pair allegedly hit it off just a few weeks ago, towards the end of 2013. The lovers, we are told, are very fond of themselves but have been trying their best to keep their love affair discreet.
‘They just started dating; it’s been a few weeks now. They look good together but have been keeping it on the low,’ a source close to Clarence Peters told NET.
Seyi’s music video for one of her recently released songs ‘Ragga Ragga’ was shot by Clarence Peters in December, but seven months earlier the pair had worked together on her high budget music video, ‘Irawo’. It is believed that this is how they hooked up.
If this is true, then it won’t be the first time Clarence has been romantically linked with a female Nigerian act. Back in 2007, he dated rapper Kelechi ‘Kel’ Ohia who was signed to his Capital Hill record label at the time. They, however, separated following accusations of cheating, with Kel walking away from her recording contract.
NET findings also reveal that Seyi had been dating inside the industry before she hooked up with Clarence. In an interview with Toolz on Ndani TV’s ‘The Juice’ back in June 2013, Seyi Shay confirmed that she had dated someone in the industry.
We can tell you on good authority that she dated US producer Harmony ‘H-Money’ Samuels in 2010/2011. H-Money produced her 2011 single ‘No lele’. The 33-year-old producer has worked with the likes of Fantasia, Chris Brown, Ne-Yo, Mary J Blige and another Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage (‘Kele Kele‘, ‘Love me x3‘).
‘Yes I have,’ Seyi confirmed to Toolz 10 months ago. ‘I think I’ll probably end up dating someone in the industry, whether he’s an executive or maybe an artiste. It’s gonna happen that way. I just feel it,’ she added.
Seyi, who was in a US-based girl band ‘From Above’, returned to Nigeria in 2011. With the help of veteran pop artiste and mentor Sound Sultan, she secured a deal with Cecil Hammond’s Flytime Records. Months later, Seyi parted ways with Flytime, had a stint with Now Muzik management before ending up with her current team J Management. She is considered one of the breakout artistes of 2013 who will blow up in 2014.
When NET reached out to Seyi, asking if she is in a relationship with Clarence Peters and if she ever dated music producer Harmony ‘H-Money’ Samuels, she neither confirmed nor denied dating both men. ‘Whose authority? Lol,’ she wrote in a reply to our correspondent’s e-mail.
Her reps J Management, however, say the story is not true. ‘It’s absolutely not true,’ a rep told us over the phone.
According to Clarence Peters’ reps, no romantic relationship exists between him and Seyi. ’Not true. We all know they’ve worked on two of her videos but that’s about it,’ someone on his team told NET.
However, an insider insists the couple wants to take things slow, especially for Clarence who is himself a product of a celebrity relationship that existed over two decades ago between Juju musician Sir Shina Peters and Nollywood star Clarion Chukwurah.
