HAPPY BIRTHDAY MUM, MY ANGEL, MY LOVER, MY TEACHER, MY INTERCESSOR, MY WOMAN MY EVERYTHING.

Next to God, thy parents. William Penn (1644-1718),

Today is 15th August, 2015, a day my Mother's birthday is celebrated. Her mood today will slightly  be different from the other birthday celebrations dating back to at least 1983 when she got married to my late father because he will not be celebrating with her. Don't get me wrong, this post is all about celebrating her life and wishing her many more years in good health and strength. It also presents an opportunity for me to advice you of the need to ensure you take care of your parents irrespective of the resources at your disposal.

I and my siblings are blessed to have great parents, a teacher mum who enshrined discipline, spirituality and high moral standards in us, a very kind lawyer father who showered us with love, advised us regarding our various careers and proved beyond doubt that parents can be their children's best friends.
There are three degrees of filial piety. The highest is being a credit to our parents, the second is not disgracing them; the lowest is being able simply to support them. Confucius (551-479 BC),
Mum set the standard when despite the fact that she had four children had to travel all the way to ABU in Zaria for her degree education. Only a man who desires success for his better half would ever allow such, thank you dad. We had no excuse to be lazy students.

Mum was loved by her students and I was fortunate to be one of them. She went out of her way during classes to share live issues as an educational tool and advise the students especially the females on adhering to moral standards. Those who understood the advise and used it are better off now while those who refused now understand the meaning of SU-RU-LE-RE.
Live so that when your children think of fairness and integrity, they think of you. - H. Jackson Brown Jr
Mum is my prayer warrior and intercessor. She has never slowed down in her relationship with God since she became born-again. Even when we murmur at long morning devotions, she remains unperturbed, Her prayers and  Jehovah's grace brought us this far. Each time I think about her, all I see is a praying mother who is constantly on her knees committing her seeds into the hands of God and also strengthening her own relationship with the "Lion of Judah".

Mum is a champion and victor. She is a strong tower. The shocking loss of her husband 11 months ago meant she had to take over management of the family as the head. God has been doing wonders through her and this excites me.

Be a source of joy and happiness to your parents at every opportunity because they will not live forever.

Shower them with gifts and love. Make out time to call, visit  and listen to them. Make them your role models and let them realize this (#JEKOMO) so that you won't be full of regrets when they are gone.
Children have never been very good at listening to their elders, but they have never failed to imitate them. James Baldwin (1924-1987)
GOD BLESS YOU MUM.

GOD BLESS YOUR SOUL DAD.

Forever yours.
