THAI POLICE ARREST MAN SUSPECTED OF BEING BEHIND THE BANGKOK SHRINE BOMBING.

Thai police have arrested a foreign suspect and uncovered bomb-making materials today following an investigation into the deadly Bangkok shrine bombing, officials said.

Plainclothes police raided an apartment used by the man, named as Adem Karadag on his passport, in Nong Jok on the outskirts of Bangkok today.

On entering the man's apartment, investigators reporting uncovered ten passport as well possible bomb-making materials.

CCTV FOOTAGE OF THE SUSPECT
National police spokesman Prawut Thavornsiri said that the suspect 'looks like the one we are looking for'. It is thought the man is 28-year-old and may have been using a fake Turkish passport.

'It is most likely he is related to the bombing at Rajaprasong,' deputy police chief Chakthip Chaijinda said of the suspect.

The blast at the Erawan Shrine in the commercial Rajaprasong district of the capital killed 20 people, including foreigners, on 17 August.

National police spokesman Prawut Thawornsiri said that the arrested person is a foreigner, but refused to say if he was Turkish, as was reported by some local news organizations.

BOMB MAKING MATERIALS
He said a news conference was planned later today.

An image of the suspect's alleged passport has been circulating on social media. However, it would appear the document is a fake, with basic mistakes including two expiry dates.

Shortly after the horrific bomb attack, police released an artist's sketch of a man seen in a security camera video from the open-air shrine.

The suspect could be seen leaving a backpack at a bench and walking away. A separate camera showed the suspect, wearing a distinctive yellow T-shirt, on the back of a motorcycle taxi leaving the site.

An arrest warrant issued earlier for the unknown suspect described him as a 'foreign man,' although a military spokesman said a connection to international terrorism seemed unlikely.
