The beautiful DORA confirmed last week that she is just recovering from a sickness that almost took her life.

DORA should be praying, eating and sleeping at home for now and not exposing herself to stress. We wish her speedy recovery.

INSIDE JONATHAN'S N166BN ($1BN) BUDGET FOR OIL THEFT WAR.

President Goodluck Jonathan recently announced that the Federal Government had set aside the princely sum of $1 billion to tackle the protracted crisis of crude oil theft, pipeline vandalism and the so-called illegal bunkering that have resulted in the loss of between 10 and 20 percent of the nation’s crude oil production output. The President, who spoke while on a visit to The Netherlands, headquarters of Shell, Nigeria’s biggest partners in the oil and gas industry, which has been worst hit by the seemingly insurmountable security challenges confronting the industry, said the funds would also be committed to apprehension and prosecution of oil thieves.

Details of the programme include further action to enhance the security of pipelines and other oil industry infrastructure, resolve community-related issues, boost youth empowerment in oil-producing areas, and enhance the commitment of oil companies to the discharge of their corporate social responsibilities. The President said that the fresh onslaught against oil theft planned by his administration would require the maximum co-operation of the international community, especially countries like The Netherlands, which are major stakeholders in the global oil industry.

(PICTURES) THREE MODELS TAKE AMAZING TUMBLES AT A SINGLE CHINA FASHION WEEK SHOW.

It's not uncommon for models in sky-high heels to occasionally fall over on the runway, but it's a whole other matter when three women in one show take dramatic spills. That's exactly what happened at the Seccry Hu Sheguang presentation at China Fashion Week on Sunday, where models teetered precariously down the catwalk in seven- or eight-inch-high platforms.

One by one, three different models tripped up, with photographers capturing each awkward moment as they tumbled to the floor.

COURT VERDICT ON 37 APC HOUSE OF REPS MEMBERS IS UNCONSTITUTIONAL - APC.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said Justice Adeniyi Ademola did not order the 37 members of the House of Representatives who defected to the APC to vacate their seats because he is not competent to issue such a ruling, as the issue of whether not not they can defect was not before him.

In a statement,Tuesday, by its Interim National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party however said it will appeal the ruling because Justice Ademola’s perpetual injunction restraining the concerned lawmakers from participating in motions and debates in the House is unconstitutional and defeats the very purpose for which the members were elected into the House.

It said Justice Ademola’s unsolicited comments were clearly gregarious, unnecessary, superfluous and has no foundation in law or fact, hence should be ignored.

NEWLY DOOMED RICE POLICY.

It takes a public hearing for Nigerians to know how government departments and ministries work with, or against each other. There are often speculations that governments sabotage themselves, but when they are stated officially, they are causes for concern.

Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Akinwunmi Adesina, told the House of Representatives Committee on Customs and Excise that the Nigerian Customs Service, NIS, was smuggling rice, among other items, into the country. He was speaking on the New Rice Regime, a government policy that aims at domestic sufficiency in rice production, which is apparently doomed.

The over 1.9 million metric tonnes of rice smuggled into Nigeria in 2013, or 8,000 bags daily, the Minister said were stalling government’s policy on local production. Without the nod of Customs, he said, smugglers would be out of business.

The Board of Directors of Zenith Bank Plc yesterday announced the appointment of Peter Amangbo as the Managing Director designate. DEAR PRESIDENT JONATHAN, ALLISON MADUEKE'S CUP IS FULL.

The recently-uncovered financial recklessness and obscene lifestyle involving Diezani Alison-Madueke is truly the apex of cumulative impunity by the Minister of Petroleum Resources. She is accused of living extravagantly at the expense of Nigerians by wasting about N10 billion to maintain one of the three private jets she is using for official and personal travels. More shocking disclosures are still streaming in.

The details of the preliminary enquiry in the House of Representatives are unnerving. The minister is said to have spent €500,000 (N130 million) monthly or N3.21 billion in two years to maintain a Challenger business jet. Every time she flies the second jet on a round trip, taxpayers lose €600,000 (N137 million), while the cost of the third aircraft is still to be ascertained.  The irreducible minimum Nigerians demand of the House Public Accounts Committee is to establish the facts of the case.
