ALL-OUT WAR AGAINST EBOLA VIRUS DISEASE.

THE dastardly “importation” of the dreaded Ebola Viral Disease (EVD) into Nigeria by the late Patrick Sawyer almost a month ago, has brought out the best in the government and people of Nigeria, surprisingly.
As soon as Sawyer was identified as a possible carrier of the plague, the authorities took proactive steps to establish quarantine facilities.

They ensured that all those who had made primary and secondary contact with the Liberian were identified and handled professionally.

It has helped to limit the scope of the infection within the populace, though latest reports have it that the number of people infected has skyrocketed to 198 as at press time.

POLICE ARREST HEARTLESS ROBBERS WHO RAPED A NURSING MOTHER IN FRONT OF HER HUSBAND.

Robbers do not deserve mercy especially those who kill and rape. Eight robbers raped a nursing mother in Kogi and claimed they were high at that time. Four of them are now in Police custody and we hope they pay severely for their crimes.

"Sun news" reports that tears flowed freely as people beheld the pathetic sight of a middle-aged nursing mother whose three-month old baby was thrown into the bush while an eight-man gang of devilish souls raped her to a point of unconsciousness right in the presence of her husband.

The woman (names with held) who had bruises all over her body especially in the waist region could barely stand unaided when she was sighted at the headquarters of the Kogi State Police Command.

HOW GOVERNOR AREGBESOLA SECURED A SECOND TERM IN OFFICE.

It is no longer news that Governor Rauf Aregbesola of the All Progressives Congress (APC) comfortably beat Senator Iyiola Omisore of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to retain his seat for another 48 months in power in weekend’s Osun State polls. What perhaps is news is the avalanche of reasons for Aregbesola’s convincing victory.

The reasons include: Aregbesola’s modest performance in the last four years; mismanagement of crisis in the PDP and failure to pacify aggrieved leaders like former governors Isiaka Adeleke and Olagunsoye Oyinlola, who had to defect to the APC; failure of the PDP to make capital out of the religious card occasioned by Aregbesola’s re-classification of schools; Aregbesola’s deft grassroots support; Omisore’s Bola Ige’s baggage; the governor’s work in Osogbo; and APC’s loss in Ekiti, which served as a wake-up call leading the leaders to apply useful lessons learnt from the Ekiti episode where PDP’s Ayo Fayose beat APC’s Governor Kayode Fayemi.
