FEDERAL GOVERNMENT'S N114B IS MISSING IN TRANSIT.

It sounds so bizarre that allocations to some Federal Government agencies in excess of N114 billion have been lost in transit. But for a parliamentary inquest, the public would not even have known this. For President Goodluck Jonathan, always dismissive of the abysmal level of corruption in the country, this matter presents further evidence. Since March 14, the House of Representatives Committee on Public Accounts has been quizzing officials of the Budget Office, Central Bank of Nigeria, Police Force, Ministry of Police Affairs and Office of the Head of Service of the Federation on this tangled skein.

At the behest of the President, Lamido Sanusi, the suspended Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria, had remitted N19.7 billion to the Ministry of Police Affairs, for the police to buy “armoured helicopters and security equipment.” Sanusi stated this in his reply to the government’s allegation of financial recklessness against him. Curiously, both the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, and the ministry, told the House committee that they did not see the cash.

SEARCH PARTY DETECTS SIGNAL CONSISTENT WITH BLACK BOX OF MISSING MALAYSIA AIRLINES FLIGHT MH370.

A high-tech Australian ship has detected signals consistent with aircraft black boxes in the northern part of the area being searched for missing flight MH370, it was revealed today.

The major development was announced by Air Chief Marshal Angus Houston, the co-ordinator of the search from Perth, who said that ‘this is the most promising lead, probably, in the search so far. It’s probably the best information we’ve had.’

The signals were detected by a 'towed pinger locator' deployed by the Australian vessel Ocean Shield in the northern part of the defined search area west of Australia.

Mr Houston said the signals were consistent with those emitted by aircraft black boxes, adding that the first was held for than two hours and 20 minutes, the second for about 13 minutes.

MILITARY CHIEFS ARE ASSISTING BOKO HARAM - SOLDIER ALLEGES.

A soldier has claimed that he witnessed incidents that suggested some military   chiefs work  with Boko Haram insurgents in the North-East.

The soldier told the Voice of America Hausa Service  how his military unit in Borno State was ambushed by Boko Haram members. He  said the commander of a nearby military unit in Bama recently sought assistance from his unit in carrying out a raid.

The soldier, who did not give his  name, said when the two military units joined up, they were given different uniforms. The Bama unit commander, according to him, gave his own troops green uniforms while his   unit received tan “desert camouflage” uniforms.

NIGERIA EMERGES BIGGEST ECONOMY IN AFRICA WITH $510B YET 70% OF ITS POPULATION STILL LIVE IN POVERTY.

Nigeria's recalculated economy is worth $510 billion, by far the biggest in Africa, officials announced Sunday using long overdue revised data that gives the West African nation continental bragging rights but does little for the 70 percent of its citizens living in poverty.

The new value of Nigeria's GDP adds previously uncounted industries like telecommunications, information technology, music, airlines, burgeoning online retail outlets and Nollywood film production that didn't exist when the last GDP count was made in 1990. Then, there were 300,000 landlines. Today, Nigeria has 100 million cell phone users.

The new figures also will take account of growth in agriculture and tourism that have flourished since democracy was restored in 1999, ending decades of military dictatorship.

THE STRANGE DREAM OF A MUSLIM- MUSLIM TICKET - FANI KAYODE

As a matter of fact some are openly advocating and canvassing the idea. Whether we like to admit it or not this is the subject of heated discussions in many party circles today with some party leaders being for it whilst others are against it.

Consequently the party would do well to issue a statement on the matter and tell us whether they are in a position to rule out such a course of action or not. If they refuse to do so the speculations will simply continue and, like an insidious cancer, the matter will eat away at the very soul of the party and eventually squander it’s fortunes.

WE SHOULD WORRY ABOUT EBOLA VIRUS!!!!!!

The news of the recent outbreak of Ebola fever in parts of Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone should set off alarm bells here at home.

We should be very worried about this development because in the West African sub-region, Nigerians are the most widely travelled nationals. One or several people contracting the virus and bringing it back here would be a major problem.

For one, the World Health Organisation issued a statement which said the recent outbreak of the Ebola virus is a limited one. On the other hand, Doctors Without Borders stated rather cryptically that this outbreak was unprecedented in their experience.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME............

I will praise the LORD all my life; I will sing praises to my God as long as I live. Psalm 146:2

Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything; tell God your needs, and don't forget to thank Him for His answers. If you do this, you will experience God's peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will keep your thoughts and your hearts quiet and at rest as you trust in Christ. Philippians 4:6-7

By his grace, I am a year older today. The verses above expresses several life experiences and it's lessons.

Many who were family members, neighbours, class/course mates, colleagues and even acquaintances are no more, yet Jehovah has counted me worthy to be ALIVE & LIVING. I owe him so much praise.

Brethen, count your life as a blessing and put on the garment of praise daily for all JEHOVAH has done for you.

LET'S TALK ABOUT NIGERIA.............

Anyone attempting to guess the outcome of the National Dialogue, or rules out its possibilities for charting a new course for Nigeria, is under-estimating the challenges facing Nigeria and the urgency required in dealing with them.

Contention for space is not a Nigerian phenomenon. Politicians contest for space everywhere. They disagree; they proffer alternatives to governments in power. What appears totally Nigerian in these contentions is the absurdity of ruling out options or making decisions without listening to other sides.

Would the National Dialogue face the same challenges? Sectional interests seem to understand the dialogue as a platform to foist their hegemony. Complaints about number of delegates assigned to them indicate they are coming to Abuja to propagate their interests. Would sectional interests translate to national interests? Who would speak for Nigeria at the dialogue?

CHELSEA MUST PAY £10M TO OFFLOAD INCONSISTENT FERNANDO TORRES.

Chelsea face a staggering £10million bill to get Fernando Torres out of Stamford Bridge as the forward prepares to dig in over his £175,000-a-week contract.

Manager Jose Mourinho has made it clear Torres has no future at Chelsea and questioned whether he is ‘a real striker’ following the 3-1 defeat by Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday.  Torres, 30, has two years left on his lucrative contract.

The Spain striker will not be able to command £175,000 a week anywhere else after a disastrous spell in London, but wants to be compensated for taking a lower salary elsewhere.
