DANGOTE BUILDS N2BILLION WORLD CLASS 1000 BED CAPACITY HOSPITAL IN KANO

The decay in the health sector has spurred the richest man in Africa, Aliko Dangote, to assist the sector by embarking on a N2Billion Hospital Project in Kano State. This commenced on Tuesday at a foundation stone-laying ceremony of what had been described as one of Africa’ most ambitious health facilities located in Kano State.

Alhaji Aliko Dangote, said his plan to build world’s best hospital would stop the medical tourism that had cost Nigeria billions of naira.

INSURGENCY IN THE NORTH - NO HOPE YET

The dreaded Islamic Sect, BOKO HARAM, have killed schoolchildren, fellow Muslims, college students, and drivers on the road in the past four months despite the state of emergency declared by the Federal Government in 4 Northern States.

What exactly is Nigeria's strategy now?

In the dead of night, around 30 gunmen in pickup trucks and motorbikes sped onto the grounds of a college in northeast Nigeria. They headed into the male dormitories and opened fire.

At least 41 students were killed when the suspected Boko Haram Islamists attacked the Yobe State College of Agriculture, in a rural area 30 miles south of the state capital Damaturu. They killed students in their sleep. Others were assembled in groups outside before they were shot dead. Some fled into the darkness and were cut down by gunfire. The surviving 1,000 students left the college in terror.

For the last four months, the Nigerian Army has concentrated military operations against Boko Haram. But the attacks by the rebel group show few signs of abating, and the extreme cruelty and violence aimed at vulnerable civilians is on the rise, raising new questions about how effective the government strategy is.

RESIDENT DOCTORS DECLARE INDEFINITE NATIONWIDE STRIKE

Resident Doctors may join the long list of striking workers in Nigeria at the moment as the National Association of Resident Doctors of Nigeria (NARD), declared an indefinite strike action on the ground that the Federal Government has refused to empower residency training in the country.

Addressing a news conference in Kano, the association’s National President,  Dr Jibril Abdullahi threatened that all state hospitals would be shut down if the Enugu State Teaching Hospital did not implement the consolidated medical salary structure within 21 days.

A PRESIDENT'S DILEMMA

As he spoke at a dinner early last month, it was clear that Tony Anenih, chairman of the Board of Trustees, BoT, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was determined to ‘fix’ the issues generating bad blood and acrimony within the party.

Known widely now as ‘Mr. Fix-It’, because he is believed to have the uncanny ability to provide solution to every political problem under the sun, Anenih gave President Goodluck Jonathan a piece of advice: He asked Jonathan to reveal his intention in respect of the 2015 presidential election.

“I will appeal to our leader, the President of this country, that at the end of September or as we enter October, we should not tell anybody that the time is not right. I think the time is right. It is good that we tell our people where we are going to; what our journey will be like.” With this seemingly harmless admonition, Anenih had placed a clumsy finger on the festering sore of his party, Nigeria’s ruling party since the return of democracy in 1999.

JONATHAN HANDS OVER PHCN TO PRIVATE INVESTORS

President Jonathan handed ownership of the bulk of the state electricity company to private buyers on Monday, completing one of the final stages of a privatisation process meant to end decades of debilitating power shortages.

Despite holding the world’s ninth-largest gas reserves, Nigeria produces one-tenth the amount of electricity as South Africa, for a population three times the size.

The Power Holding Company of Nigeria keeps the lights on for only a few hours a day, forcing those who can afford it to rely on expensive diesel generators that burn up billions of dollars from Africa’s second-largest economy. Improvements could be felt in two to three years, experts say.

POLICE MOVIE(PART 3) - ANOTHER POLICE OFFICER CAUGHT ON TAPE DEMANDING N10K BRIBE

This time, a police in Onitsha was filmed demanding for 10k bribe over claims that there were discrepancies in the vehicle documents and chasis number of a car.

SSS ARREST GANG LEADER IN OZEKHOME'S KIDNAP CASE

Information reaching us indicates that a major kingpin of kidnapping in Edo and other surrounding states, Kelvin Oburuvbe might have been arrested by men of the Department of State Security.

It was reliably gathered that the kidnap kingpin was picked up in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State, by operatives of DSS and is currently being interrogated.

There were however conflicting reports that the arrested kidnapper might be the one who recently issued a 60-day ultimatum to the Federal Government to declare amnesty for him and his gang, otherwise his group would blow up oil installations in Urobo speaking areas of the country.

A mild drama played out in Orlu, ImoState, when a commercial motorcyclist, a father of two (names withheld), was caught pants down making love to a married woman in a lonely bush.

While the 45-year-old housewife was making a case of rape against the randy motorcyclist, the 30-year-old man insisted that the woman was his concubine.

She further told the police that while she was waiting for him to finish easing himself, the man emerged and started asking that they sleep together, adding that when she refused the amorous advance, the man grabbed her and forcefully lifted her into the bush.

(PHOTOS) WOMAN MIRACULOUSLY ESCAPED UNHURT AS GIANT CONTAINER FLATTENNED HER CAR

Dear Readers,

Would you have imagined that anyone in this crushed car would have escaped unharmed or survived at all?

This is not a movie scene but an accident that occurred at Zhangjiagang in the Jiangsu Province of China. A Chinese woman was driving alongside a lorry carrying the huge, orange box, which suddenly listed to one side. The container fell off the side of the lorry, flattening the top half of the car which came to a halt on the road.

Firefighters were called to the scene just 1pm on Saturday, but had to wait almost twenty minutes for a crane powerful enough to life the container off of the car.

Rescuers and members of the crowd which had gathered were then astounded to hear a voice from inside the car shouting for help.

THE GROWING CONFIDENCE OF CRIMINALS IN NIGERIA

Last week, a notorious kidnapper and robbery kingpin in Delta State,KELVIN IBRUVWE , appeared from his hideout and issued an ultimatum to the FG provide infrastructure for his Urhobo kinsmen in Delta State or face devastating destruction of oil and gas production facilities in the area. Same man who had been declared wanted by the POLICE spoke amidst cheers by his kinsmen and he wasn't apprehended.

We now celebrate crime and treat criminals as VIPs........... He definitely got a massive boost from the fallout of the Militancy in the Niger-Delta region where Warlords have become SUPER RICH overnight as juicy Government contracts never ceases to flow.

Not forgetting the several threats and pains the militant group Boko Haram have inflicted on the country. Their defiance despite the state of emergency declared in their core areas of operations beats my imagination and could only mean one thing; THE GOVERNMENT MUST STEP UP ITS GAME.
