HERE COMES IPHONE 5S

Dear iphone lovers, the latest addition to the iphone family has been unveiled in the US.

The new phone follows the number- / letter-naming scheme set in place way back in twenty ‘o nine with the introduction of the 3GS and carried on with 2011′s 4S. As with those handsets, the new device’s name implies that this round is something of an iterative update to last year’s iPhone 5.

HARD TIMES FOR BLACKBERRY AS IT LAYS OFF HALF OF ITS US TEAM

Blackberry continues its quest for survival as half of its sales team at the headquarters has been laid off.

Cantech Letter cites sources who say that the company’s consumer sales team is “gone” while its “enterprise [sales force] is gutted” too. The UK is said to be next in the line as it seeks further redundancies to slash costs.

BlackBerry confirmed to the Wall Street Journal that “a small number of employees were laid off,” but a spokesperson declined to provide a concrete figure. The Journal claims “several dozen” staff were axed.

Last month, the company announced plans to “explore strategic alternatives” – reports last week suggested the goal is to be sold by November.

It was sent after the UK Government handed export licences to two firms between 2004 and 2010. Experts have rubbished claims the chemical was for industrial use, fearing it could have been diverted to Syria’s blood-soaked ruler, Bashar al-Assad.

WHERE NOKIA WENT WRONG

Nokia’s agreement to sell its handset business to Microsoft for $7.2 billion is something of a minor business coup for Nokia, since a year from now that business might well turn out to have been worth nothing. It also demonstrates just how far and fast Nokia has fallen in recent years. Not that long ago, it was the world’s dominant and pace-setting mobile-phone maker. Today, it has just three per cent of the global smartphone market, and its market cap is a fifth of what it was in 2007.

What happened to Nokia is no secret: Apple and Android crushed it.

But the reasons for that failure are a bit more mysterious.

There were gasps as the Russian President made his remarks after being asked how he would react if Barack Obama proceeds with an attack in response to Syria’s used of chemical weapons.

TEACHER JAILED FOR 8-YEARS FOR HAVING SEX WITH 14YEAR-OLD-GIRL

GLYN THOMPSON - JAILED
The PALAVA of rape and sexual abuse is an international crime. From India to Nigeria to Britain, adult males just seem unable to control their sexual urge. We might just recommend spiritual cleansing for all child molesters.

In the UK, a school cricket coach who had an 18-month affair with a teenage girl has been jailed for eight years. Glyn Thompson, 31, had sex with 14-year-old on his desk at the school where he worked, in his car and at both her family home and the family home he shared with the mother of his young son.

The father of one from Burnley, Lancashire, taught at the town's Stoneyholme Community Primary School. The scandal was exposed when the girl confessed to a friend in an internet chatroom and the friend sent an anonymous letter to the school. Thompson was later suspended and then sacked from his teaching job.
At Preston Crown Court Thompson, whose partner was also a teacher at the school, pleaded guilty to nine counts of sexual activity with a child. The illicit relationship began after Thompson met the girl when she was 13 and the pair began swapping 'flirty' emails. Sylvia Dacre, prosecuting, said Thompson began to groom the girl, adding: 'He asked her for pictures of herself, which she provided.'

He eventually pestered her for sex and they had intercourse in many places. Thompson, who has a seven-year-old son, later told police the relationship was 'mutual' and said he was 'sorry', and that he didn’t intend to 'use' her.

Judge Jonathan Gibson banned Thompson from working with children and ordered him to sign the Sex Offender Register for life. He said: 'It is clear to me she was young and naive and inexperienced when you began to groom her. This includes many emails and exchanging photographs.' 'The effects of your offending will be with the complainant and her family for years to come.'
Outside court, DC Liz Owens of Lancashire Police: 'I am pleased with the sentence, given the horrendous ordeal he put his young victim through.

'He took advantage of a young girl and groomed her over a long period of time.
