NORTH KOREA REVEALS IT SUCCESFULLY LAUNCHED A HYDROGEN BOMB WHICH CAUSED A 5.1 MAGNITUDE EARTHQUAKE.

North Korea today revealed it had detonated a hydrogen bomb, triggering a 5.1-magnitude earthquake and propelling the dictatorship on a new collision course with world powers.

The thermonuclear weapon is believed to have detonated into the atmosphere at 10am local time at the Punggye-ri test site in the north-east of the country, with tremors felt many miles away.

Footage was aired on state television that purported to be of the explosion, showing a thick, black mushroom cloud rising high into the air.

The Deputy Senate President, Chief Ike Ekwerenmadu, has defended the cash provision for the purchase of vehicles for Senate Committees, describing it as “a necessary expenditure.”

“It is an indisputable fact that the exchange rate for the dollar has hit the skies in these days and age and this has adversely affected every other commodity in the country,” Ekweremadu said.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, yesterday, docked former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Dr. Haliru Bello, before a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja.

Bello, a one-time Minister of Defence, was arraigned alongside his son, Abba, on a four-count criminal charge bordering on alleged N300 million fraud.

Whereas Bello’s son was charged as the first accused person, a firm, BAM Projects and Properties Limited, which the EFCC said was used to perpetuate the fraud, was cited as the 2nd accused person in the matter.

Operatives of the agency reportedly arrived the Abuja home of Mr. Metuh on Tuesday morning, and invited him to follow them to the commission’s headquarters.

Mr. Metuh’s aide, Richard Ihediwa, in a statement said upon enquiry on the reasons for the invitation, the officials stated that he has some issues to clear with the commission.

The 2015 edition of the HEADIES award which was also the 10th edition of the event ended in quite a sad note as two heavyweights in the music industry clashed.

It started when Mavins act Reekadobanks won the Next-rated award ahead of YBNL's Lil Kesh. This didn't go down well with YBNL boss Olamide who had the opportunity to express himself when one of his Soldiers "Adekunle Gold" won the best alternative song. He said Lil Kesh has had back to back hits hence deserved the award. He was quite brutal in his comments because he used the F*** word a couple of times.

In september 2015, I got a call from Dr. Adedeji Adeleke, a long time friend, telling me his son had fathered a baby girl with my cousin, Sophia Momodu. I rejoiced with him as any reasonable soul will do. He apologised that he had not called all along because he wasn’t sure if Sophie’s baby was going to turn out a fake one like that of two others who had turned up at his doorstep.

But mercifully, according to Dr. Adeleke, Sophie’s baby passed the DNA test by over 98 per cent and he was elated. I congratulated him again as proud grandfather. He said he would like to meet me with Sophie since Sophie’s dad, Uncle Jibola Momodu, passed on years ago and Sophie mentioned me as her cousin.

APPEAL COURT CANCELS VICTORY HANDED TO MAMA TARABA BY ELECTION TRIBUNAL.

The Court of Appeal In Abuja has cancelled the purported victory handed Aisha Alhassan, by an election tribunal, as the governor of Taraba State.

Mrs. Alhassan, the candidate of the All Peoples Congress, was declared winner on November 7.

In doing so, the Taraba State Governorship Election Tribunal nullified the election of Darius Ishaku of the Peoples Democratic Party.

But in its ruling Thursday, the Court of Appeal which reviewed Mr. Ishaku’s appeal, described as “unattainable” a petition by the APC seeking to disqualify Mr. Ishaku as the PDP candidate in the gubernatorial election of April 11.

WARRANT OF ARREST ISSUED FOR BILL COSBY FOR 2004 RAPE OF ANDREA CONSTAND.

An arrest warrant has been issued for entertainer Bill Cosby for allegedly drugging and sexually assaulting former Temple employee Andrea Constand at his Elkins Park, Pennsylvania mansion in January 2004, Montgomery County District Attorney-Elect Kevin Steele said at a Wednesday press conference. 

Cosby is expected to be arraigned later this afternoon in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania. 

"A prosecutor's job is to follow the evidence wherever it leads and whenever it comes to light," Steele said. "Upon examination of all the evidence, today we are able to seek justice on behalf of the victim." 

NNAMDI KANU APOLOGIZES TO PRESIDENT BUHARI AND IGBO LEADERS.

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra and founder of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has expressed regret for referring to President Muhammadu Buhari as a terrorist, evil and a paedophile in his radio broadcasts.

Kanu, who has been charged along with two others by the Federal Government before a Federal High Court in Abuja on six counts of treason and other ancillary offences, said he intended to write a private letter to Buhari to express his apology to the President.

He also apologised to former President Goodluck Jonathan and Igbo elders for “some uncomplimentary things” he said about them.
