IN SEARCH OF PATIENCE - DELE MOMODU.

Fellow Nigerians, you must be wondering from the title of my Column this week if I am missing Madam Patience Faka Jonathan, our erstwhile indefatigable First Lady, less than two weeks after she left office alongside her husband. Your guess would definitely be wrong, if you think so. This article is not about any human being called Patience. It is on that inner attribute which makes it possible for people to calm down and look deep before hurrying to nowhere.

I’ve been visibly disturbed by the spate of unnecessary and unwarranted attacks on the leadership style of our dear President Muhammadu Buhari who was sworn in barely a week ago. What is his offence?  He’s said to have been slow in announcing his cabinet, Special Advisers and personal aides as well as formulating policies that his government intends to follow. I read this firstly on social media, as early as last Sunday, just 48 hours after the President received the baton of power from former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.

PDP AND THE HANGOVER OF DEFEAT - OLUSEGUN ADENIYI.

The first salvo was fired by the immediate past Akwa Ibom State Governor and now senator-elect, Chief Godswill Akpabio. In trying to help out a House of Representatives member-elect from Akwa Ibom who was being heckled for his long-winding comment, Akpabio said it was important for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to take appropriate lessons from its recent defeat at the polls. Using himself as an example, Akpabio added that despite his achievements in Akwa Ibom, the party refused to showcase him and others to the Nigerian electorate because of envy; and perhaps for that reason also, PDP Governors were deliberately left out of the presidential campaign. “I practically had to go to the villa where, as Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum, I spent about three hours begging the president (Dr. Goodluck Jonathan) to accommodate the governors in the presidential campaign.”

CHALLENGES BEFORE PRESIDENT BUHARI.

The momentous 2015 political transition successfully closed with the swearing into office of the various elected executive officers, particularly President Muhammadu Buhari and the various state governors on May 29.

It was a process that rendered Nigeria an enigma of sorts before the world. The elections were supposed to produce massive violence and bloodletting. Some even predicted possible disintegration of Nigeria. Nothing close to these predictions happened. Former President Goodluck Jonathan, by conceding the election to Buhari, gave Nigeria an opportunity to make seamless transfer of power from the ruling party to the opposition, the first time in Nigeria and a great departure from the norm in most African elections.

ISIS EXECUTES 3 GAY MEN BY DROPPING THEM FROM THE TOP OF 100FT BUILDING. (PICTURES)

Depraved militants fighting for the Islamic State in Iraq have brutally murdered three gay men by throwing them from the top of a high building in front of a huge crowd of bloodthirsty onlookers.
Disturbing photographs of the atrocity - believed to have been taken place in ISIS' stronghold Mosul - shows one man being dangled over the edge of the building by his ankles before being dropped.

In the event the horrifically injured men are not killed upon impact with the ground, the baying crowd are encouraged to surge forward and stone them to death with a mass of rocks helpfully provided by the ISIS savages who organise the terror group's sickening public executions.

In a sequence of images, some of which are far too brutal to publish, the jihadis are seen with the men on the roof of the building before dropping them to their deaths.
