STELLA ODUAH & CO RISK 5 YEARS IN JAIL

The House Committee on Public Procurement said in Abuja   that Stella Oduah, and officials of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority risked five-year jail term if  found guilty of breaching procurement regulations in the purchase of the  bulletproof cars.

The committee  Chairman, Ms Jumoke Okoya-Thomas, who accused the minister of shunning 12 invitations previously extended to her by the committee,  explained that    the Public Procurement Act clearly spelt out the penalty for any breach.

In Lagos,an Ikeja High Court, yesterday, sentenced a 27-year-old woman, Chiamaka Nnajiofor, to 10 years imprisonment for her culpability in the death of her housekeeper, Oliver Arakwe.

JONATHAN MOVES AGAINST EMBATTLED MINISTER OF AVIATION "STELLA ODUAH"

President Goodluck Jonathan may have finally succumbed to public pressure to  move against the embattled Minister of Aviation, Ms Stella Oduah, who is currently being probed over the N255m  bulletproof cars bought for her by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority.

The development came to the fore with the last-minute decision to stop Oduah from signing the much-publicised Bilateral Air Services Agreement with Israel.

ADMIRAL MIKE AKHIGBE(68) IS DEAD

A former Chief of General Staff, Vice Admiral Mike Akhigbe, is dead. He died in a New York hospital at around 1.06pm, about 7.pm Nigerian time on Monday. 

Aged 68, Akhigbe, who was the second in command to the former military ruler, Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar, was said to have died of cancer-related ailment. Before his death on Monday, there was speculation over his state of health.

APPLE REPORTS DISAPPOINTING THIRD QUARTER

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority has denied having any documents relating to the  two BMW bulletproof cars it bought for the Minister of Aviation, Ms Stella Oduah.

The denial came two days after Lagos lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN), gave seven days ultimatum to NCAA to supply his law firm with the information.

NCAA DG & OTHERS EARN N4.2BN ANNUALLY

The Director-General of the troubled Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, nine directors of the agency and 956 other members of staff earn N4.2bn as salaries and allowances annually.

This personnel cost represents 27.92 per cent of the annual budget of the NCAA, which stood at N15.3bn this January.

Just yesterday. the crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP took another turn, as the Police stormed the Sokoto Governor’s Lodge, Asokoro, Abuja where the Abubakar Kawu Baraje-led new PDP, including opposition governors were holding a meeting and chased them out. A few hours before the group assembled at the Sokoto Governor’s lodge, it had cried out that the government had started a clampdown on the businesses of its members as well threatening their lives.

CHRIS BROWN ARRESTED FOR FELONY ASSAULT

Chris Brown is in trouble again according to reports by TMZ....

He was arrested in Washington D.C. this morning for FELONY assault after allegedly attacking a man outside a hotel ... TMZ has learned.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... at around 4:30 AM Brown got into an argument with a man outside the W Hotel on K Street and allegedly punched him once in the face.  We're told the alleged victim never threw a punch.

POLICE in California shot and killed a 13-yr-old boy, Andy Lopez, seven times, just 10 seconds after they instructed him to drop his rifle. Unfortunately, the rifle was just a TOY GUN. 

The BOY never had a chance to explain that the GUN was harmless before life was snuffed out of him.

PLANES COLLIDE AT LAGOS AIRPORT

There was a minor accident Friday  at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos involving a Turkish Airline aircraft and a Max Air plane. The Turkish Airline plane wings collided with that of Max Air plane which had brought in Pilgrims from Saudi Arabia.

Airport sources said the Turkish Airplane had landed safely but was taxing to stop at the apron, when its wing collided with that of Max Air.

MAN KILLS DOCTOR AFTER FAILED NOSE OPERATION

A man furious at the result of an operation on his nose, stabbed a doctor to death and wounded two others at a hospital.

The 33-year-old man carried out the attack at a hospital in Wenling city, Zhejiang province, China. He had gone to the ear, nose and throat department looking for the doctor who treated him, but he was not there.
