OFFICIAL TITLES - BUHARI DROPS GENERAL WHILE OSINBAJO MAINTAINS PROFESSOR.


The president-elect and former military ruler, Maj. General Muhammadu Buhari (retd) has hinted that he will drop the general-title from May 29 when he will be sworn-in as the president of Nigeria. He wish to be known and addressed as Muhammadu Buhari, instead of Maj. General Muhammadu Buhari (retd).

The Vice-President-elect, Oluyemi Oluleke Osinbajo, who is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and Professor of Law, is to be known and addressed as Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, SAN.

This was contained in a statement signed by Garba Shehu, the Directorate of Media and Publicity.

“From May 29, 2015 the President-elect and Vice-President-elect are to be respectively known and addressed as Muhammadu Buhari, President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Federal Republic of Nigeria and Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, Vice President, Federal Republic of Nigeria”.
