IBB WITH APC LEADERS
The recent moves by the leadership of the All Progressives Congress is becoming worrisome as it might be very hard to distinguish the party members from the PDP lords if  we consider the caliber of politicians they have been visiting recently and attempting to woo to the party.

It might be a case of same passengers but different vehicle.... POLITICS!!! POLITICS!!! POLITICS!!!

US DECLARES "BOKO HARAM" AS TERROR GROUP

The United States has Wednesday designated radical Islamist sects, Ahl as-Sunnah lid-daʻwa wal-Jihād, also known as  Boko Haram and Ansaru as  foreign terrorist organisations, FTOs.

“These designations are an important and appropriate step, but only one tool in what must be a comprehensive approach by the Nigerian government to counter these groups … to help root out violent extremism,” the State Department said in a statement.

The State Department’s  statement, quoted by agencies reports, reads:  ”In the last several years, Boko Haram and Ansaru have been responsible for thousands of deaths in northeast and central Nigeria, including dozens of attacks on churches and mosques, targeted killings of civilians, and the 2011 suicide bombing of the United Nations building in Abuja that killed 21 people and injured dozens more,” White House homeland security advisor Lisa Monaco said in a statement.

“By cutting these terrorist organizations off from US financial institutions and enabling banks to freeze assets held in the United States, these designations demonstrate our strong support for Nigeria’s fight against terrorism and its efforts to address security challenges in the north.”

“All of our assistance to Nigeria stresses the importance of protecting civilians and ensuring that human rights are respected. That assistance and these designations demonstrate US support for the Nigerian people’s fight against Boko Haram and Ansaru,” the State Department said.

Other FTOs on the list are; HAMAS, Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), al-Qa’ida (AQ), al-Qaida in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM), Indian Mujahedeen (IM), al-Shabaab, Communist Party of the Philippines/New People’s Army (CPP/NPA), Real Irish Republican Army (RIRA) among others.

THE $1BN ART HOARDER

CORNELIUS GURLITT
Lieutenant Dwight McKay was a long way from Chicago. To be precise, he was 4,436 miles away, stuck in a room in a castle in the middle of Germany, sitting opposite a nervous and bespectacled man who, at 49, was nearly 20 years his senior.

The man looked like an academic, which, in a previous life, was what he had been. In fact, Dr Hildebrand Gurlitt was one of the most respected art experts and curators in Germany, the product of a supremely talented family that could boast  artists and musicians stretching back for  many generations.

THE SHAME CALLED THE MURTALA MUHAMMED INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT - JAPHET OMOJUWA

MURTALA MUHAMMED INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
How much does a country need to keep its busiest international airport from running like an oven? The Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos has to be the hottest airport in the world. It is easily the hottest I have travelled through and I have been through quite a lot of airports. Even the Nairobi airport in Kenya that was engulfed by fire is not as hot as the MMIA. You should not even get started with comparing it with the airport in Cape Town or Johannesburg, South Africa. Ghana’s Kotoka International Airport, Accra may be small but it does not meet you with the repulsiveness the MMIA greets you with. Even the Eyadema airport in Togo has a better atmosphere. The Léopold Sédar Senghor International Airport in Dakar, Senegal trumps ours by light years. This is speaking of African countries. We dare not try to compare with airports outside Africa. As soon as you descend from the plane to go through the immigration point, the feeling is as though you were being punished for daring to travel to Nigeria – if a foreigner – or you were being punished for daring to leave the country – if a Nigerian. The saddest part of this reality is that money is not the reason why we have an airport that makes us look like we are a people without shame. Or, are we?
