Manchester United will bring forward talks over a new £15,000-a-week deal for Marcus Rashford following the teenage striker's sensational breakthrough at Old Trafford.
Rashford, 18, scored twice on his Premier League debut in Sunday's 3-2 win over Arsenal to take his total to four goals in his first two games for United's senior team.
The club were already looking to upgrade Rashford's current £1,500-a-week deal that is due to run out in the summer of 2017.
But they now want to reward the teenager by fast-tracking negotiations and tying him to a more lucrative contract even sooner.
Rashford, who has been at United since the age of nine, already has a boot deal with Nike after he finished last season as the top scorer for the club's Under-18s.
His progression since then has been quite remarkable. In September, he was handed the captaincy of the Under-19s, and then made his debut for the Under-21s. By November he was on the bench for Van Gaal's side at Watford.
Rashford made his debut against FC Midtjylland on Thursday night when he was thrown into action at the last minute because Anthony Martial hurt his hamstring in the warm-up.
The youngster scored two goals against the Danes and then repeated the feat against Arsenal.
