LOOMING DANGER IN LAGOS.

To deny that since the inception of this new administration there has been a prevalence of criminal activities in the state and fail to call on the Lagos State government to do right by the people, is to play purposeless politics with the lives of Lagosians.

With the recent killing of the Managing Director of the Lekki Free Trade Zone, Mr. Tajudeen Disu, when Ibeju-Lekki villagers clashed with mobile policemen over an alleged “forceful take-over” of their land by the state government, there has been a reinforcement of the claim that Lagos has once again relapsed to the times of lawlessness and insecurity. Nothing highlights this assumption clearer than the quick succession of intense criminal activities, which have despoiled the relative peace and calm inherited from the last administration.

THE TEMPTATIONS OF BIAFRA.

Do not be deceived, every Igbo man is a Biafran, irrespective of where he was born and grew up on this earth, whether he fought and witnessed the Nigerian civil war or not. He may not even know what Biafra is all about, and may not believe in the concept or idea of Biafra, but God knows why he was created an Igbo man.

Although as an individual, he may know his purpose, vision and mission on earth, he would be incomplete until he discovers his role as an Igbo man. A man who does not know his identity irrespective of his status in society needs help, and   many Igbos need help in this regard.

I was in Biafra as a 12-year-old during the civil war, and saw war fronts, the refugee camps, feeding, research and production centers, etc. I saw deaths, hunger, kwashiorkor, oppression by the soldiers on both sides of the war; intrigues: Biafrans killing Biafrans. But I found myself weeping uncontrollably the day it was announced that we lost the war because no one likes defeat, not even a child. Biafra was defeated in January 1970; so when you mention it now, some are tempted to avoid it, postpone the topic, kill it, suppress it, while others want to speak and stand by it.

BIAFRA, OODUA AND THE 7TH LESSON - REUBEN ABATI.

Democracy does not necessarily translate into the disappearance of crises and dilemmas, (even trilemmas, quadrilemmas or more) in a country, either developed, developing or perhaps evolutionary.

Built into the fabric of the right to choose is also the right to make mistakes and so, across Africa at this moment, in Nigeria, Tanzania, Cote d’Ivoire, Burundi, Guinea Conakry, Rwanda, the lessons are being driven home, as elections are being held or have been held or will be held, that even as democracy spreads within the continent, the tension between stabilization and consolidation, trade offs and efficiency, pessimism and optimism, ethnocentrism and nationalism, remains a major concern.

N1.4TN PENALTY IS TOO HUGE TO BEAR - MTN CRIES OUT AT NCC'S PENALTY FOR FAILURE TO DISCONNECT UNREGISTERED SIM.

Three days after Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC slammed a N1.4 trillion penalty on MTN Nigeria for failure to disconnect customers with unregistered SIM cards, Parent company MTN group has cried out that the fine was too extreme, even as it continues to engage the regulator on how to resolve the issue.

MTN Group noted with dismay that Nigerian Communications Commission refused to listen to its plea to reconsider its stand on the penalty slammed on its Nigerian arm last week.

According to a report, MTN Nigeria spokeswoman, Chineze Gbenga-Oluwatoye, had said in an e-mailed response, that “recommendations were put forward with respect to the non-commensurable nature of the fine but the Nigerian Communications Commission did not accept recommendations that the fine of 200,000 Naira ($1,005) per SIM was too heavy.”

HOW DID LUTH CONSULTANT "DR. HESTIA IDIODI-THOMAS" DIE????

KELECHI IHEANACHO SHINES IN HIS FIRST COMPETITIVE START FOR MANCHESTER CITY.

The Capital One Cup, very much the poor relation within the hierarchy of competitions available to English clubs, has in recent history been used by clubs to rotate their squad of players, not only allowing fringe players vital minutes but used as an opportunity to blood promising younger players.
Manuel Pellegrini though is not a manager keen to relegate the competition to the status of second-class citizen, mindful of the fact that this was the first trophy he landed in England.

He also appears to be a proponent of taking each game as it comes (rather than it being mere lip service), being an opportunity rather than a burden on a bloated fixture list.

THE ILE IFE AND YORUBA OF MY DREAMS- BY OONI OF IFE ELECT ADEYEYE OGUNWUSI.

I have a story to tell the world   and most importantly the people of  Ile-Ife.  About 40 years ago, I was born into the Giesi Ruling House, Ojaja Royal Compound in the ancient city of Ile-Ife.

From birth, my life has been a journey; one that I embarked on, saddled with great conscientiousness when I became a responsible father at the age of 19, which shaped and groomed me for greater challenges ahead.

To cater for my family as a young father, I became very enterprising with the knack of building something out of nothing. This certainly increased my temperament for being successful in all my endeavours, as well as towing the right path as a responsible father.

THE ELECTION NULLIFICATION IS A GANG-UP AGAINST ME.

Governor Nyesom Wike has described the nullification of his election by the Election Petition Tribunal as a gang up against him and the people of the state arguing that the the judiciary was setting a dangerous precedent in the country with the way it had gone about elections in Rivers state.

Special Adviser to the governor on media and publicity, Mr Opunabo Nko-Tariah in a statement yesterday in Port Harcourt alleged that there had been  effort to wrestle power from Governor Wike through the back door, adding that legal steps will be taken to defend the mandates of the people displayed in the April 11 general election.

“What is going on right now can best be described as judicial gang-up against Governor Wike, nay, the people of Rivers State. It is an affront on democracy and a blight disregard for the will of the people as evinced in the April 11 general elections.

I DID NOT GET OIL CONTRACT FROM JONATHAN - CHIEF EDWIN CLARK.

Elder statesman, Chief Edwin Clark, has dismissed insinuations that he betrayed former President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, by reportedly saying that the ex-President lacked the political will to fight corruption, noting that he was maliciously misconstrued.

Clark, who was criticised by some associates of the former President over the statement, also denounced claims that his decision to quit partisan politics was provoked by the ex-President’s defeat at the polls.

In a 3,902-word letter, the former Minister of Information exonerated himself from the various allegations of betrayal levelled against him, adding that close associates of the former President and some party leaders sold Jonathan out.

Blac Chyna clearly made one of the rashest decisions in dating history, because Future not only says he's single ... he's insinuating he was never even banging her!

The rapper just posted a clear message, "Single and focusing on what makes me happy." What's amazing about this ... less than 2 weeks after they supposedly started dating, Chyna inked his name on her hand. The swelling hasn't even gone away and they're now history.
