BOKO HARAM HAVE KILLED AT LEAST 1600 PEOPLE SINCE JUNE 2015.


Amnesty International said last month that the Boko Haram conflict had killed at least 1,600 people since the start of June in Nigeria, Niger, Chad and Cameroon and called for more protection for civilians.

An AFP tally puts the death toll at more than 1,320 in Nigeria alone since Muhammadu Buhari became president on May 29.

Boko Haram claimed responsibility for three suicide attacks in the satellite towns of Kuje and Nyanya outside Nigeria’s capital Abuja on October 2, which killed a total of 18 people and injured 41.

FIVE MEN ARRAIGNED FOR IMPREGNATING 13-YR-OLD GIRL.


Five men on Tuesday appeared before a Senior Magistrates Court in Katsina, for allegedly impregnating a 13- year-old minor.

Those arraigned incuded Amadu Mairake, 60, Samaila Hamza, 30, Hassan Surajo, 40, Sani Abdullahi, 30, and Hassan Ila, 40.

The suspects, who reside at Borin-Dawa village in Malumfashi Local Government of Katsina State, were charged with a one-count charge of rape.

31-YR-OLD JAILED SENTENCED TO 885 YEARS FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY.


A Seminole County judge sentenced a man to 885 years in prison for possession of a massive amount of child pornography, Attorney General Pam Bondi's Office of Statewide Prosecution announced on Monday.

Shawn Ryan Thomas, 31, was sentenced to 885 years in prison on 59 counts of possession of child pornography, 15 years for each count.

According to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Thomas communicated online with an informant regarding a disturbing plan to kidnap a child, kill the parents and sexually batter the child while filming the acts to produce child pornography.

PRESIDENT BUHARI WILL NO LONGER BE MINISTER OF PETROLEUM.


There is an indication that the  Presidency has reversed itself on the petroleum ministerial position.

The portfolio will now have no minister, while a ministerial nominee in the person of Emmanuel Kachikwu, current Managing Director of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, would be Minister of State for Petroleum Resources.

This indication was given by the presidential spokesman, Mr. Femi Adesina, barely two weeks after he had told international media that President Muhammadu Buhari would take the position.

POLICE PARADES 2 ABDUCTORS OF CHIEF OLU FALAE WHO CLAIM THEIR COLLEAGUE ESCAPED WITH N5M RANSOM FEE.


The Department of State Service, DSS, yesterday presented two suspected abductors of Chief Olu Falae, a former Secretary to Government of the Federation, in Abuja.

Chief Falae, was abducted on his farm at Ilado village, Akure, Ondo state on his 77th birthday on Sept. 21 by armed Fulani herdsmen and released four days later.

Presenting the suspects, Mr Abdullahi Garba, an operative of the service, said that they were arrested on October 5 at J. Zebra hotel in Lokoja.

EFCC ARREST FORMER BENUE GOVERNOR GABRIEL SUSWAM.


The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has commenced interrogations of former Governor of Benue state, Gabriel Suswam over alleged massive corruption in the state during his tenure as Governor. Suswan was arrested Monday and is being questioned by EFCC.

Suswam, who left office on May 29, this year, is alleged to have made away with state funds running into billions of Naira and is to defend himself against the charges.

Speaking with newsmen a short while ago, the EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwajuren confirmed that Suswan was arrested Today, Monday and is being quizzed by the anti-graft agency.

APC LED LATE DIEPREYE ALAMIEYESEIGHA TO THE PATH OF DEATH - GOVERNOR FAYOSE.


Ado-Ekiti- Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has fingered the All Progressive Congress led Federal Government in the death of former Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Diepreye Alamieyeseigha.

Describing the death as painful and unfortunate, Fayose said, the All Progressives Congress (APC) led Federal Government finally succeeded in hounding an Ijaw leader to death just because of his staunch stance on the upcoming Bayelsa State governorship election.”

Fayose, in a statement by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka said, the governor commiserated with the deceased family, former President, Dr Goodluck Jonathan as well as the Governor of Bayelsa State, Hon Seriake Dickson and the entire people of the State.

I WON'T JOIN ISSUES WITH BOLA TINUBU - BUKOLA SARAKI.


Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, on Sunday, responded to a statement said to have been issued by the National Leader of his party, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, where he (Tinubu), while reacting to a recent media report by a national daily (not Vanguard), accused Saraki of crass disloyalty to party discipline, giving the manner he captured his current seat as Senate President.

But in a swift reaction, Saraki who took to his Facebook page, said he had seen the statement said to be issued by Senator Tinubu over the published story, but have decided not to join issues with him.

Recall that on Saturday, the national daily had in its publication alleged that the former Lagos State governor, is reportedly angered that the ministerial candidates he sent to President Muhammadu Buhari didn’t scale through.

The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, yesterday launched a verbal assault on Senate President Bukola Saraki, describing the manner in which Saraki captured his current position as a “class act of disloyalty to the party”.

Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos State, added that the Senate president might have joined the APC on paper, but has remained committed to the malpractices and wrong aims of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at heart.

He launched his attack in a statement by his media aide, Mr. Sunday Dare, in response to a report alleging that the national leader had conspired with the Senate president to undermine the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

24-YR-OLD JESSICA EDIONWELE WHO FAKED HER OWN KIDNAP TO EXTORT MONEY FROM HER FATHER FOUND IN BOYFRIEND'S HOME.


It was like a scene in a comic movie as the supposedly kidnapped 24-year-old daughter of Hon. Edionwele, representing Esan Constituency,  Edo State, Jessica, was found right in the bossom of her boyfriend in Lugbe, an outskirt of Federal Capital Territory,  Abuja, Sunday evening by policemen from the command.

Jessica, last Wednesday was reported to have left Ibadan, Oyo State,  where she was serving, for Lagos to board an aircraft to Abuja. She was said to have landed Abuja safely but took an airport taxi that drove her away to an unknown destination.

While family and friends were terribly worried for what would have befallen the young lady, she allegedly gave her father’s telephone number to her ‘abductor’, who claimed that if the honourable wanted her daughter back alive should pay a ransom.

COURT SENTENCE RAPIST TO 21 YRS JAIL TERM. #SAYNOTORAPE.


A Bayelsa State High Court sitting at Yenagoa, on Friday, sentenced a rapist, Super Ojo, alias Bestman, to 21 years in prison for raping a lady (name withheld).

Ojo, said to be the leader of a cult group, Bobos, learnt his fate at State High Court 2, presided over by Justice Margaret Akpomiemie.

The convict and nine other members of his gang were said to have raped the lady at Akaba in Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State in 2011.

NIGERIAN AIRFORCE PLANE CRASHES IN YOLA, ADAMAWA STATE.


A Nigerian Air Force plane has reportedly crashed in Yola,  Adamawa state.

Sahara Reporters has confirmed the incident with the director of defence information for the Nigerian Armed Forces, Colonel Rabe Abubakar.

Channels TV has also obtained confirmation.

However, more details are yet expected. Specifically, regarding the victims of the crash.

CHIEF ALAMIEYESEIGHA IS DEAD.

Chief Alamieyeseigha reportedly died of cardiac arrest at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, after slipping into coma two days ago and was placed on life support.

The Bayelsa State Commissioner for Information, Esueme Dan-Kikili, who confirmed the death to Channels Television, said that the death of the former governor was a great loss to the Ijaw ethnic group.

There were reports during the week that the British Government was determined to resurrect an outstanding case of money laundering against the former governor and hadrequested for his extradition to London.

Alamieyeseigha, who was facing money laundering charges, jumped bail and returned to Nigeria and has since then refused to answer summons for trial to continue.

According to his Wikipedia page, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha was born on November 16, 1952 in Amassoma, Ogboin North Local Government Area, Bayelsa State and had his secondary school education at the Bishop Dimeari Grammar School, Yenagoa.

He joined the Nigerian Defence Academy as a Cadet Officer in 1974, and was enlisted in the Nigerian Air Force, where he served in the department of Logistics and Supply.

Before retiring from the Air Force in 1992 as a Squadron Leader, he had served in Enugu, Markurdi, Kaduna and Ikeja.

He became the Sole Administrator of Pabod Supplies Port Harcourt and later Head of Budget, Planning, Research and Development of the National Fertiliser Company (NAFCON).

Diepreye Alamieyeseigha was Governor of Bayelsa State in Nigeria from May 29, 1999 to December 9, 2005. He was  impeached on allegations of corruption.

There were indications on Thursday that the move by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Yakubu Dogara, to settle the rift between the Presidency and the President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, has failed to yield a positive result.

It was gathered that at the meeting between President Muhammadu Buhari and Dogara on Monday in Abuja, the Presidency insisted that Saraki must sever his relationship with the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu.

CHEVENING SCHOLARSHIP REMOVES EMBATTLED DIEZANI MADUEKE FROM HONORS LIST.


The United Kingdom-based Chevening Scholarship has removed the embattled former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, from its list of female achievers.

Chevening is an international scholarship scheme which enables students with leadership qualities from 144 countries and territories to undertake postgraduate study or courses in universities in the UK.

After receiving a Chevening scholarship in 2002, Diezani attended Cambridge University for her MBA and then returned to Nigeria where she became the first female Executive Director of Shell Petroleum Development Company.

DIEZANI MADUEKE STRUGGLING WITH BREAST CANCER SAYS HER LAWYER.


Diezani Alison-Madueke is receiving treatment for cancer in the United Kingdom, her lawyer told SaharaReporters on Thursday.

Mr. Oscar Onwudiwe said in a statement written exclusively for SaharaReporters that the former Minister of Petroleum Resources, who was arrested last week in London on corruption-related offences, began the treatment for cancer in the UK while she was in office.

Although he did not say what form of cancer she was diagnosed with, he added, “The health crisis has unfortunately exacerbated in recent times.”
