SADIQ ABACHA (SON OF LATE DICTATOR) WRITES AN OPEN LETTER TO PROF. WOLE SOYINKA. ACCUSES HIM OF MISMANAGING FRSC FUNDS.

If you want to think, speak and act logically then you should know all three.
1. The law of identity
2. The law of excluded middle
3. The law of non contradiction.

Now let’s look at each one of these and see what they mean in practice.

1. The law of identity
The law of identity means that things are what they are, which at first doesn’t seem very illuminating, but wait; it implies also the following, that things are what they are, whether you like them or not, it implies that things are what they are whether you know them or not, it implies that things are what they are whether you agree with them or not. However, if you don’t like the facts as they are you are going to have to put up with them, because facts are what they are, if it’s raining on your golf day, get used to it! Because the facts are what they are and are often not what you want them to be, like if the traffic lights turn red when you approach, stop complaining! The law of identity means that you must adapt yourself to the facts and start your work from there, it implies that the facts will not bend to meet your expectations. You must first adapt yourself to what life is and then get to work changing and improving things in your life, be brave to meet reality as it really is and not how you would wish it to be.

TOP 50 RICHEST BILLIONAIRES IN THE WORLD.

The ranks of the world’s billionaires continue to scale new heights–and stretch to new corners of the world. Our global wealth team found 1,645 billionaires with an aggregate net worth of $6.4 trillion, up from $5.4 trillion a year ago. We unearthed a record 268 new ten-figure fortunes, including 42 new women billionaires, another record. In total, there are 172 women on the list, more than ever before and up from 138 last year.

Bill Gates is back on top after a four-year hiatus, reclaiming the title of world’s richest person from telecom mogul Carlos Slim Helu of Mexico, who ranked No. 1 for the past four years. Gates, whose fortune rose by $9 billion in the past year, has held the top spot for 15 of the past 20 years. Spanish clothing retailer Amancio Ortega (best known for the Zara fashion chain) retains the No. 3 spot for the second year in a row, extending his lead over Warren Buffett, who is again No. 4. American gambling tycoon Sheldon Adelson, who added $11.5 billion to his pile, makes it back into the top ten for the first time since 2007. Another first: A record net worth of $31 billion was needed to make the top 20, up from $23 billion last year.

The year’s biggest dollar gainer was Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg, whose fortune jumped $15.2 billion, to $28.5 billion, as shares of his social network soared. Tech, and more specifically Facebook, helped propel numerous fortunes lately. The company’s COO, Sheryl Sandberg, joins the ranks for the first time, as does Facebook’s longtime vice president Jeff Rothschild. Also, thanks to a $19 billion deal  (including restricted stock) with Facebook, WhatsApp founders Jan Koum and Brian Acton join the ranks of Silicon Valley’s wealthiest for the first time. They are 4 of 26 newcomers whose fortunes come from technology, 10 of whom are American, including Dropbox CEO Drew Houston and Workday cofounder Aneel Bhusri.

CHIEF MEDICAL DIRECTOR OF FEDERAL MEDICAL CENTRE (OWO) IN DEEP FINANCIAL MESS.

The Chief Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre in Owo, is under investigation and in big trouble as reported by Sahara Reporters

Dr. Abiodun Olufemi Omotosho, who holds that post, is currently the target of an investigation by officials at  the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) over allegations of corruption, and embezzlement in the hospital.

The Chief Medical Director, and other top officials at the hospital, are said to be on a so-called ‘black list’ of the EFCC for siphoning funds meant for the training of staff. What has also drawn attention, sources tell SaharaReporters, is the cutting down of some salaries of the hospital’s administrative staff.

SaharaReporters has learned that the CMD, and other top-level management doctors have come under scrutiny by federal officials for allegedly stealing hospital funds meant to purchase medical equipment worth millions of naira that has gone missing. The federal investigation is also focused on the mismanagement of funds budgeted for the purchase of Computer Tomography equipment best known as 'CT scan'.

RUSSIAN TROOPS FIRE FIRST SHOT IN CRIMEA TO WARD OFF UNARMED UKRAINIAN TROOPS.

Russian troops in control of the Belbek air base in Crimea fired warning shots into the air as around 300 Ukrainian soldiers, who previously manned the airfield, demanded their jobs back.
About a dozen Russian soldiers at the base warned the Ukrainians, who were marching unarmed, not to approach.

They fired several warning shots into the air and said they would shoot the Ukrainians if they continued to march toward them.

The stand-off comes as Vladimir Putin ordered thousands of Russian troops participating in military exercises near Ukraine's border to return to their base.

RAPISTS TAKING ADVANTAGE OF DEAF GIRLS - OYEDUNI ARULOGUN.

A Senior Lecturer in the Department of Health Promotion and Education, College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, on Monday said rapists in Ibadan were taking undue advantage of deaf girls.
Mr. Arulogun said in Ibadan that indication to this development was revealed by her latest research work entitled: “Sexual and Reproductive Health Needs of Deaf girls: A Case Study of Ibadan.’’

She said: “Many of the rapists of these deaf girls are their stepfathers and other people well known to them.
“I discovered during my research that they experience sexual, physical and psychological violence just like anyone else.

“It is a worrisome situation because when they are sexually violated, they can’t complain. “They don’t have the language to communicate and so most of the rape incidents go unreported to the security agents.

SANUSI'S REMOVAL AND EXECUTIVE DUPLICITY.

Hiding behind his finger, President Goodluck Jonathan recently suspended Lamido Sanusi, Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, from office over alleged financial recklessness. The President’s action is ill-advised and is rightly seen by many as a well choreographed vendetta against a man, who, a few days earlier, had exposed how the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation brazenly looted oil revenues.

The immediate consequences of his suspension bode ill for the economy: aggregate market value of equities quoted on the Nigerian Stock Exchange fell on the first day by N187 billion, just as the naira crashed from N162.9 to N170 to the dollar in the interbank market. This was the larger and delicate picture the President and his economic management team ignored or could not see; thus exposing the economy to grave risk.

Section 11 (2) (f) of the CBN Act that deals with the removal of the governor clearly states that it shall only be done when backed by two-thirds majority support of  the Senate.  But, instead of Jonathan sending details of Sanusi’s alleged wrongdoings to the parliament as demanded by law, he sent the nomination of his proposed successor, Godwin Emefiele. Garrison theatrics are not alien to his Presidency. He had in 2011 failed to recall the suspended President of the Court of Appeal, Ayo Salami, when the National Judicial Institute, vested with the powers to sanction him, advised that he be reinstated.

According to a source the room went silent before Mr. Kayode Oladele, Chief of Staff in the office of the Executive Chairman of the EFCC went to the podium.  Oladele said the donation was a violation of ethics and rules of engagement of the EFCC,

The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, February 27 2014, at Kano street in Mobile Estate, Satellite Town, Lagos and left residents of the estate and its environs jittery.
