GHANA DUMPS NIGERIA OUT OF CHAN 2014

After a concerted effort to move against the odds and make an impact, the Nigerian local senior soccer side, the Super Eagles finally bowed out of the CHAN tournament, losing to the Black Stars of Ghana in the semi final match played in Free States Stadium, Bloemfontein, South Africa. Playing before an estimated 12,560 crowd the Black Stars won the tough decider with 10 men after Kwabena Adusei was given marching orders for a second reckless tackle on Abubakar Ibrahim.

Led by Captain Christianus Uzuenyi, the Eagles started the match with a lot of gusto creating several chances but also coming close to conceding in the early minutes. Ghana was let off the hook in the 19th minute when Ibrahim Abubakar's shot hit the bar sending the Ghanaians into defense mode. This was after skipper and playmaker Chrisantus Ejike Uzuenyi appeared to have fainted after colliding with a Ghanaian player and being wheeled to the side for medical attention.

NIGERIA POLICE EXTRAJUDICIAL KILLING - JUSTICE AT LAST FOR EMMANUEL VICTOR

At last, justice has come the way of the oppressed. In a bold statement by a Nigerian court, a trigger-happy policeman has been sentenced to death by hanging after he was found guilty of gratuitously killing a young man in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, a little over two years ago.

Although the judgement delivered by Justice Lucky Boufili will not bring 20-year-old Emmanuel Victor back to life, his mother, Grace, in whose presence the boy was shot, and other members of the family can take cold comfort from the fact that the perpetrator, Matthew Egheghe, will not go scot-free. They can also be consoled by the knowledge that the courageous judgement will send a message to other security agents who take pleasure in routinely gunning down innocent citizens of this country in circumstances that tend to promote impunity.

11 PDP SENATORS DEFECT TO APC.

There was confusion on the floor of the Senate, following reports that 11 Senators defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to join the opposition All Progressives Congress. A statement earlier issued by the Interim National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, had said that the 11 Senators had defected.

In the statement, Mohammed claimed that the affected Senators had written a formal letter informing the Senate leadership of their decision and that the said letter would be read during Wednesday’s plenary.

However, neither the Senators concerned nor the Senate President, David Mark, made any reference to the issue during the day’s sitting. Mark did not read the letters, which some claimed were submitted to him by the individual Senators late on Tuesday.

MANCHESTER CITY DESTROYS TOTTENHAM (AWAY) "5 - 1" TO OVERTAKE ARSENAL IN THE EPL

Manchester City surged to the top of the Premier League with a 5-1 victory at Tottenham, although a suspected hamstring injury to Sergio Aguero will have dampened the mood slightly.

Aguero gave City a deserved lead on the quarter-hour mark, latching onto David Silva's through ball to slide it in past Hugo Loris and score for the eighth successive game. It made it seven goals in five games for Aguero since he returned from a month out with a calf problem in the FA Cup replay against Blackburn.

Spurs thought they had levelled when Michael Dawson side-footed Christian Eriksen's free kick in at the back post, but he was ruled to have been offside. Aguero then limped off shortly before half-time with a suspected hamstring injury, with Stevan Jovetic coming on in his place.

Five minutes after the restart, Spurs were down to 10 men when Danny Rose was adjudged to have brought down Edin Dzeko in the box, despite appearing to get the ball. Yaya Toure stepped up to send Lloris the wrong way and make it 2-0. It didn't take long for City to grab their next goal. Silva latched onto Pablo Zabaleta's cut-back and fired off a shot that Lloris saved onto the post, only for Dzeko to stroke in the rebound on 53 minutes.

However, Spurs pulled one back shortly before the hour with Etienne Capoue spinning in the box and firing home, in off the outstretched arm of Fernandinho.

Any chance of an unlikely comeback was snuffed out when Jovetic curled the ball into the bottom left corner via a deflection from Vlad Chiriches on 77 minutes. Vincent Kompany then capped off the victory a minute from time by scrambling the ball home when Dzeko's shot dropped kindly into his path.

JAW SURGERY GONE WRONG

                                 BEFORE                                                           AFTER

A South Korean woman has been accused of 'ruining her face' after 'before' and 'after' shots of her plastic surgery procedure spread online. The unnamed woman, allegedly a reporter on a South Korean TV channel, has undergone jaw surgery in order to achieve the dainty heart-shaped face desired by many east Asian women.

South Koreans currently have more plastic surgery than in any other country according to recent figures, with the craze particularly popular among 19 to 49-year-olds.

The result of the procedure is an unusually pointed chin, and the reactions on a Japanese online forum did not hold back.

TAKEAWAY WORKER IN THE UK FACES DEPORTATION AFTER RAPING 12 YR OLD GIRL

CHILD RAPIST - MOHAMMED HUSSAIN
A takeaway worker faces deportation after he was jailed for raping a 12-year-old girl who was out past her bedtime. Mohammed Hussain, 28, was driving home from work with two colleagues in the early hours in Leeds, West Yorkshire, when they spotted the group of four girls in a park.

Afraid to go home because they had broken their parents' curfew, the girls were enticed back to the home of one of the men. There they were offered cannabis and played pornographic films before two of the girls, both 12, were taken upstairs.

Hussain raped one of the 12-year-old girls while she asked him to stop, Leeds Crown Court heard. One of his two colleagues, 30-year-old Harris Uddin, tried to remove the trousers of the other girl but stopped when she asked him not to.

KANYE WEST PAYS $250,000 (N40,000,000) TO TEENAGER HE ASSAULTED AT BEVERLY HILLS

I really wanna get punched and beaten by Kanye West at this moment because he (Kanye West) has reportedly paid $250,000 to a man who accused him of beating him up. The 36-year-old rapper became the focus of a battery investigation after he reportedly chased the 18-year-old into a chiropractor's office and punched him after the teen apparently hurled racial slurs at Kanye's fiancé.

However, TMZ reports the duo have now come to an agreement and Kanye has paid $250,000 to the man who no longer wishes to go ahead with prosecution.

WHY I SACKED SERVICE CHIEFS - PRESIDENT JONATHAN

President Goodluck Jonathan, yesterday, said that he sacked the immediate past service chiefs because of "UNHEALTHY COMPETITION" which made it possible for Boko Haram insurgents to attack the Air Force operational base in Maiduguri.

Jonathan said the terrorists destroyed fighter aircraft during the attack and went scot free because of the rivalry between the former service chiefs.

The service chiefs, who were sacked included the Chief of Defence Staff, Admiral Ola Ibrahim; Lt General Azubuike Ihejirika, Chief of Army Staff, COAS, and Vice Admiral Dele Ezeoba, Chief of Naval Staff.

GENERAL OVERSEER ARRESTED IN IMO FOR RAPING 13-YR OLD GIRL

The Police in Imo State have arrested the General Overseer and head of a popular church in Ikeduru council area of the state, for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl.

This followed a petition written to the Owerri Police Area Command by the lawyer to the father of the alleged rape victim, Mr Emperor Iwuala. The father of the victim,  a widower and does not want his name in print, had alleged that the pastor severally raped his daughter between 2010 and 2013.

According to him, “Between 2010 and 2013, I was sick and a friend of mine introduced me to the prophet. Because of my sickness, I lost my job as a luxury bus driver and also my accommodation in Naze Owerri.
“Consequently, the prophet offered me accommodation in his house which he also uses as church. I moved in with my two little daughters. Because of my condition then, I did not know that the prophet was taking advantage of my predicament to defile one of my daughters.

GORY DETAILS OF BOKO HARAM'S ATTACK IN ADAMAWA

Too many gory accounts of Boko Haram's massacre in the northern part of Nigeria and we still don't know when this will end.

“Some people tried to escape through the windows and the attackers shot at them. They cut peoples’ throats.” This was how the Catholic Bishop of Yola, Mamza   Stephen, captured the calamity that befell worshippers  at a Catholic church in Waga Chakawa in Adamawa State when Boko Haram insurgents struck on Sunday morning. Stephen  told the  British Broadcasting Corporation that he heard from the survivors that insurgents   arrived the village  on trucks and locked the church “towards the end of the service.”

According to him, the  militants set off bombs, before burning houses and taking residents hostage during  the  four-hour siege. He added that   death toll in the  Waga Chakawa attack  was  30 and not 22 as widely reported. “Everybody is living in fear.  There is no protection. We cannot predict where and when they are going to attack. People can’t sleep with their eyes closed,” he lamented.
