THE type of shocking crimes being committed in our society, and the level to which evil men and women are willing to go to achieve their devilish ends are becoming something else.

The system is still reeling from the scourge of baby factories, where wayward young girls who get impregnated are lured to deliver their babies in exchange for paltry sums of money, while the owners of the syndicates sell the babies for huge sums of money.

CRUCIAL STEPS TO ENDING CORRUPTION IN NIGERIA

Few will contend that corruption is Nigeria’s biggest impediment towards realising our desire for good governance. The country’s position on the annual Corruption Perception Index (CPI) has remained largely unchanged over the years, an indication that corruption, for the past four decades, has proven to be stubborn and hydra-headed.

The blame always falls on the country’s presidents, especially since 1999, who are adjudged to be too weak to fight corruption. This perceived “weakness” has nothing to do with lack of needed human, financial, and legal resources; it is a lack of “political will,” which in itself is an indictment on the President.

BUS DRIVER STRIPS NAKED TO AVOID ARREST IN LAGOS

Bus drivers in Lagos have caught the bug of stripping naked to avoid arrest. This has become very popular since LASTMA started seizing their vehicles for traffic offences.

There was drama at the Palmgrove Bus Stop, Ikorodu Road, Lagos State, on Monday when a commercial bus driver stripped naked to avoid being arrested by officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority.

The LASTMA officials had blocked five different commercial buses for indiscriminately taking passengers by the side of the road. DISGRACED CYCLING STAR LANCE ARMSTRONG SAYS CYCLING CHIEFS HELPED HIM TO CHEAT

LANCE & EMMA
It was the story he had denied. The story Emma O'Reilly went some way to telling when she exposed Lance Armstrong as a drug cheat. But when the conversation moved to the subject of that positive test in 1999, he not only agreed with her that she had been right but went a stage further.

O'Reilly always believed there was a bigger conspiracy and with her sitting before him he finally revealed the full scale of the cover-up, naming Hein Verbruggen as a central figure in his escape from punishment.

Certainly, Armstrong used this opportunity to his full advantage. He wants his life ban reduced and he wants to work with cycling's UCI governing body to achieve this. They will surely see his latest bombshell as a chance to open further discussions with him at their proposed truth and reconciliation committee hearing.

NGIGE, UBAH & NWOYE WANTS ANAMBRA GUBER POLL CANCELLED

UBAH, NGIGE AND NWOYE AT THE PRES BRIEFING
The Anambra State Governorship Election may have lost any iota of credibility as three of the four major political parties that participated in the election have called for the cancellation of the election.

Senator Chris Ngige (OON) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Ifeanyi Ubah of the Labour Party (LP) and Mr. Tony Nwoye of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have called for outright cancellation of the governorship election, saying it was marred with serious irregularities.

In a joint statement, the governorship candidates said: ““We are of the candid view that the sham election does not reflect the wishes and aspirations of Anambra voters. Our call for the cancellation of this election is reinforced by the public admission by Professor Attahiru Jega, the INEC Chairman that some INEC staffs sabotaged the conduct of the election. This call for the cancellation of the election would have been unnecessary if INEC had postponed the conduct of the election after becoming aware of the sabotage of the election by INEC officials.”
