#FLASHBACK - BOVI AT HIS BEST

MUST WATCH >>> Maga Don Pay (Starring Bovi, Adunni & Odogwu)

PASTOR ENOCH ADEBOYE CLOCKS 72 ON SUNDAY, 2ND MARCH 2014.

He is one of the most respected spiritual leaders in the world and I must also affirm that he is a man after God's heart. Testimonies abound to support all these.

The General Overseer, Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, will celebrate his 72nd birthday on Sunday. The man of God who has steered the RCCG to greater heights is making the celebration low key as no plan has been released by the church to celebrate his birthday.

Popularly known as ‘Daddy G.O.’ by his millions of followers, Adeboye was born on 2 March, 1942 into a humble family in the village of Ifewara, Osun State, western Nigeria.

Three ladies believed to be students of the University of Ghana were forced to do a crawl of shame as they were accused of shoplifting lingerie.

According to the video above posted on YouTube on February 24th, the ladies were caught on their way out of the mall with braziers and panties that were not paid for.

They were made to crawl round the mall in Accra as punishment.

ENDLESS BLOODSHED IN THE NORTH YET JONATHAN WEARS A SMILE PRETENDING THAT ALL IS WELL.

TRAGEDIES and disasters come with pains and grief; but they are also events that unite a nation. When a country is afflicted by the twin evils, especially on the scale experienced in Nigeria in recent times, it draws the grief-stricken people together and provides a perfect setting for the leadership to reconnect with them. It is an opportunity for the leader to share in the pains of those affected; it is time for him to attempt to restore hope to the disillusioned, those who may have come to the conclusion that there is nothing to live for anymore.

Nigeria, in the past few years, has had her fair share of tragic events. Since the blood-thirsty terrorist group called Boko Haram started its campaign of terror in the north-eastern part of the country, thousands of people have been killed in very gruesome circumstances. In some instances, whole villages have been levelled. And, almost of equal ferocity have been the frequent attacks and the loss of lives witnessed in Plateau State. It could, therefore, be excused when reports of fresh attacks in those areas no longer attract the attention they used to, perhaps due to their frequency.

NICOLAS ANELKA GETS FIVE MATCH BAN FOR QUENELLE GETURE.

The Football Association has banned Nicolas Anelka for five games after his controversial “quenelle” gesture against West Ham United two months ago.

The former France international was charged last month under the Football Association's new anti-discrimination rules and after a three-day hearing was found guilty of an aggravated breach of FA Rule E3 by an independent disciplinary commission.

The 34-year-old, who denied the charges, has also been fined 80,000 pounds and ordered to complete a compulsory education course. He has seven days to lodge an appeal.

THE WENDELL SIMLIN SAGA THAT EXPOSED JONATHAN'S SPECIAL ASSISTANT "RENO OMOKRI" (@Renoomokri) AS A PERPETUAL LIAR.

Call this a dance of shame and you might be so close to the truth except there is a better way to describe the mess the outspoken and sometimes unreasonable Special Assistant on New Media to President Jonathan got himself into.

Reno Omokri is one of President Jonathan's many sore mouthpiece who has been promoting the fruitless agenda of the presidency and attacking critics of the government. He however burnt his own fingers when he posed as "WENDELL SIMLIN" and circulated a document online linking the suspended CBN Governor to escalated acts of terror in the northern part of the country. The ruse was however uncovered when some Internet-savvy Nigerians traced the IP address of the source document and it turned out that it had been authored and circulated by Mr. Omokri.

This scandal, the latest in a series of ethical and corruption issues rocking the Jonathan administration, set Twitter on fire today. Outraged Nigerians called for Mr. Omokri's sack. The timing of Mr. Omokri's fraudulent act is particularly insensitive, with many commentators questioning why a member of President Jonathan’s inner circle would seek to capitalize on the blood of slaughtered innocent children by forging documents to implicate a perceived "enemy" of the Jonathan administration.

HOW BOKO HARAM SLAUGHTERED 43 STUDENTS IN YOBE.

The blood hounds, who avoid face-to-face combat with military forces, now attack soft targets in remote villages and schools, apparently to make good Nigerians sad.

ONDO STATE LOSES SPEAKER TO "CANCER OF THE URINARY BLADDER."

The Ondo State Government has described Hon. Adesina Samuel Ajayi, the Speaker of the House of Assembly who died today, as a bridge-builder, a man of integrity and a reliable team player who placed the interest of the state above personal consideration.

In a statement, Dr. Rotimi Adelola, the Secretary to the State Government, disclosed that the Speaker, who represented Odigbo Constituency 11 in the legislature, died of cancer of the urinary bladder.

"The Ondo state government received the news of the death of the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Honourable Adesina Samuel Ajayi with disbelief but in total submission to the will of God,” he said, adding that it had been the hope of all that he would pull through the challenge.

“That death took him at this time can be no less of a shock to the government and people of the State, as the prayers of all [were] for full recovery," Adelola said.

The government commiserated with Mr. Ajayi’s family, his colleagues in the state legislature, his constituents in Odigbo Local Government Area, and the entire people of the state.

"We mourn his passage and can only pray for fortitude and strength from above to bear this irreparable loss," the statement added.

READ THE FULL TEXT OF SANUSI'S SUSPENSION LETTER.

That Kano-born financial expert, Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi was suspended from office as Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria on Thursday February 20, 2014, is no longer news.

However, the development has continued to generate reactions both within and outside the country, and has become a topic that would be discussed for a very long time to come.

Here is the suspension letter through which the Nigerian government communicated its decision to Mallam Sanusi.

Reference:

Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi Governor,

Central Bank of Nigeria, Abuja.

SUSPENSION FROM OFFICE

1. Following the Report of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria on the Audited Financial Statements of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for the year ended 31st December 2012, and other related issues, I write to convey to you His Excellency, Mr. President’s decision that you be suspended from office as Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria with effect from Thursday 20th February 2014.

2. The decision is predicated on the loss of confidence in your ability to lead the Apex Bank towards the achievement of its statutory mandate. Of particular concern is the fact that, under your watch, the bank has carried out its functions in a manner characterised by disregard for due process and accountability.

IS SANUSI GUILTY OF FINANCIAL RECKLESSNESS?????

GOVERNMENTS rarely fire their Central Bank governors. No matter the reasons, controversies would trail the decision, more so if it involves Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, a man who hugs the headlines.

Few governments too would have tolerated the defiance Mallam Sanusi applied to his brief. The CBN governor wrote the President accusing the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, of not remitting $49.8 billion (about three times the nation’s annual budget) to the Federation Account.

He later blamed CBN’s Reserve Department for misleading him and told a Senate committee investigating the allegations that he had apologised privately to those his letter indicted, but there are indications that NNPC’s accounts are untidy.

MY STORY - SANUSI LAMIDO SANUSI (SUSPENDED CBN GOVERNOR).

In the beginning
As at the time I came into office, several things had collapsed. From banks to stock exchange, they had crashed. Inflation was at 15.6percent three months before I became Central Bank Governor; there was already instability in every sector of the economy. When I look back, I thank God for the people who supported us and criticized us as well because criticism has made us stronger. Also, when I look back, I can point to several things that have changed after our arrival and till date.

Keeping inflation down
For the first time in a long while, we have been able to keep inflation at about 7percent since January 2013 and it is still like that up till this moment. As far as instability and exchange rate is concerned, we have worked tirelessly to ensure things work out well for the economy.

PRESIDENTIAL MEDIA CHAT HOLDS AT 7PM TODAY.

Presidential Media Chat will hold today on the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) and the Voice of Nigeria (VON).

The programme, which is usually in a live broadcast will hold by 7p.m. This was contained in a statement by Special Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati.

According to the statement, during the programme,  Jonathan will respond to questions from a panel of journalists and media executives on current national issues and developments.

“All other radio and television stations in the country are urged to hook up to NTA and FRCN to relay the programme to their listeners and viewers,” the statement said.

NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA NURSES AND MIDWIVES SUSPENDS STRIKE TILL NEXT WEEK

The National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives, NANNM, has suspended its strike earlier scheduled to begin today by one week.

The suspension followed a dialogue between the leadership of the association and the Federal Government at the weekend, according to a release signed and made available to National Mirror yesterday by the National President and acting General Secretary of the Union, Abdrafiu Adeniji and Yusuf-Badmus respectively.

The planned strike, according to the nurses, who addressed journalists in Abuja last week, was necessitated by the failure of the Federal Government to implement an Industrial Arbitration Panel, IAP’s, judgment given in their favour 34 years ago.

TAMBUWAL HOLDS PRIVATE MEETING WITH EX-PRESIDENT OBASANJO.

The Speaker of House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, on Sunday visited former President Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta, Ogun State, where the two men held secret talks for almost an hour.

Mr. Tambuwal was accompanied by Kawu Sumaila, the deputy minority leader of the House, Ajibola Muraina, who represents Ibarapa Central/North of Oyo State, and Aminu Shagari who represents Sokoto State.

Speaking with journalists after the meeting, Mr. Tambuwal described Mr. Obasanjo as an African leader, who should be consulted on matters of national interest. The speaker said the members of the House of Representative came to tap from Mr. Obasanjo’s wealth of experience.

CBN ACTING GOVERNOR AND ALL OTHER DEPUTIES INDICTED FOR ALLEGED FRAUD AND RECOMMENDED FOR SACK.

Even though the CBN governor and the bank’s deputy governors were indicted and recommended for sack, the president moved against Mr. Sanusi alone.

The Central Bank’s new acting governor, Sarah Alade, and all of the bank’s deputy governors took part in the alleged squandering of billions of naira at the bank, and should be fired alongside the bank’s governor, Lamido Sanusi, the Financial Reporting Council’s recommendations, on which President Goodluck Jonathan based his suspension of Mr. Sanusi, has said.

NNPC: THE PLUNDERING OF NIGERIA.

There is a reason the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation has a global notoriety as a tower of graft and ineptitude. This unedifying perception developed from its role in providing “slush funds for the government” and as one of the “major black holes in the country’s public finances.”  Flush with oil revenues, the NNPC has been spending it wastefully, wallowing in a rotting culture of graft and corruption. This must end.

A report by the Human Rights Watch, a New York-based pressure group, says “oil revenues have been misused, undermining democracy, facilitating corruption and depriving the public of important services.” The ongoing investigation of missing oil money only reinforces this terrible image. And the figures are eye-popping: they range between $10 billion and $20 billion within 19 months. It has never been this horrific.

NO ORCHIDS FOR MALLAM SANUSI - DELE MOMODU

Fellow Nigerians, this has been another week of political brouhaha in Nigeria as the owners of the long knives moved in and cut the dagger’s man, Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, into shreds. SLS, as he’s fondly called by friends and foes, had committed one of those commonest mistakes in warfare, and it is a useful lesson for all. A good student of military strategy would have known you don’t pull a gun if you are not ready to fire. History is replete with tales of such calamitous and fatal errors. I had expected a man as voluble and volatile as SLS to appreciate that truism. For allowing President Goodluck Jonathan to fire the first shot, Sanusi now has to fight from a defensive position when he should have been the aggressor. But I won’t write him off.

By singing like a canary against the government he was serving, he should have known that he had grabbed a tiger by the tail and been ready for a battle royale. He should have made the first move by resigning honourably to create the time and space for unbridled pugilism. He would have made it impossible for his assailants to dictate the pace and tempo of the war. In fact, he would have thrown their camp into total confusion and disarray. From outside, it would have been easier to fire from all cylinders. But SLS allowed a rambunctious ego to get the better of him and lost the initiative from that moment. Once the President, who is the boss of all bosses, called him and asked him to resign, he should have known the contest had started and he could no longer relax in the dressing room.

JUDGE CONDEMNS WIFE-KILLER (AKOLADE AROWOLO) TO DEATH.

Wife-killer, Akolade Arowolo has been sentenced to death by hanging three years after he was accused of killing, Titilayo, his banker wife. The murder took place  precisely on June 24th 2011.

The trial judge, Justice Lateefa Okunnu of an Ikeja High Court while delivering her judgment, Friday, found Arowolo guilty on a one-count charge of murder.

The judge relied on testimonies and evidences of fifteen witnesses including family members of the deceased, investigating police officers, photographers and Chief pathologist of Lagos State to make her judgment.

Mr. Arowolo broke down in the dock during the judgment and said many times while being taken away that he would not die of the judgment.

He shouted "Jesus Christ, I cannot die" many times as he was led away by prison warders.

This brings to an end the case which has received enormous interest from the media and civil organisations.

TACKLING RAPE EPIDEMIC IN NIGERIA.

NIGERIA is a country under the grip of rape. Hardly a day goes by without screaming headlines of bizarre cases of rape leaping out at embarrassed newspaper readers. It is either a law enforcement officer is taking advantage of a female suspect or a teacher his student, or a guardian, a father or some other intimate family members are violating their innocent wards, daughters, sisters or nieces.

This tidal wave of rape and other forms of sexual assault are doubtlessly a shameless advertisement of the extent of moral decadence and permissiveness in the society. Indeed, ours is a country in dire need of a higher level of morality and a timely intervention of the redemptive power of relevant state agencies. More than ever before, the innocent victims of rape are in need of protection from the reach of these marauding wolves in sheep’s clothing.

IS NIGERIA STILL THE WORLD'S INVESTMENT DARLING AFTER SANUSI'S SACK????

As Nigeria has shifted from a corruption-addled frontier state to one of the world’s few emerging market bright spots, it has been assisted enormously by the charisma and gravitas of two of its financial leaders. One is the coordinating minister for the economy and minister of finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, familiar on the multilateral bank meeting circuit for her strong leadership, candidacy for the world Bank presidency – and her colourful headscarves. The other is central bank governor Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, sharp-suited and sharper-minded. It’s never been entirely clear how well the two people, or at least their institutions, get along, but they present to the world a credible, smart, articulate face for a country whose finances have often been murky.

But now Sanusi, who was due to step down in June, has been suspended by President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan over allegations of “financial recklessness and misconduct.” Few in the west take these words – taken verbatim from a statement issued by the president through his media adviser, Reuben Abati – at face value, and the result has been to erode confidence in one of the few market darlings of frontier-spirited fund managers in recent years.

It’s fair to say that Sanusi has, from the outset, taken on the big fights.

PROMINENT NIGERIAN AUTHOR "CHIMAMANDA ADICHIE" WRITES IN SUPPORT OF GAY RIGHTS.

Gifted author, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie wrote this article titled 'Why can’t he just be like everyone else?. Rather shocking but taking into consideration the western influence on her, she might just have personal motives..

Read below..................

I will call him Sochukwuma. A thin, smiling boy who liked to play with us girls at the university primary school in Nsukka. We were young. We knew he was different, we said, ‘he’s not like the other boys.’ But his was a benign and unquestioned difference; it was simply what it was. We did not have a name for him. We did not know the word ‘gay.’ He was Sochukwuma and he was friendly and he played oga so well that his side always won.

In secondary school, some boys in his class tried to throw Sochukwuma off a second floor balcony. They were strapping teenagers who had learned to notice, and fear, difference. They had a name for him. Homo. They mocked him because his hips swayed when he walked and his hands fluttered when he spoke. He brushed away their taunts, silently, sometimes grinning an uncomfortable grin. He must have wished that he could be what they wanted him to be. I imagine now how helplessly lonely he must have felt. The boys often asked, “Why can’t he just be like everyone else?”

SHOCKING: JONATHAN SUSPENDS CBN GOVERNOR "SANUSI LAMIDO SANUSI" WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT OVER FINANCIAL RECKLESSNESS.

In a desperate and rather shocking move, President Jonathan has suspended the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, the outspoken 'Sanusi Lamido Sanusi', citing financial recklessness amongst other issues as basis. This comes just few weeks after the CBN Governor blew the lid on the non remittance of over $10bn oil money into Federal account by NNPC, a revelation that thoroughly embarrassed Jonathan and his cohorts who are building a financial war chest for the 2015 elections.

Read a statement from GEJ's Media Assistant  below.......

Having taken special notice of reports of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria and other investigating bodies, which indicate clearly that Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi’s tenure has been characterized by various acts of financial recklessness and misconduct which are inconsistent with the administration’s vision of a Central Bank propelled by the core values of focused economic management, prudence, transparency and financial discipline.

Being also deeply concerned about far-reaching irregularities under Mallam Sanusi’s watch which have distracted the Central Bank away from the pursuit and achievement of its statutory mandate; and being determined to urgently re-position the Central Bank of Nigeria for greater efficiency, respect for due process and accountability, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has ordered the immediate suspension of Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi from the Office of Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.

FACEBOOK ACQUIRES WHATSAPP FOR A STAGGERING $19BN TO DOMINATE THE MOBILE SOCIAL PLATFORM.

The mega $19 billion deal between Facebook and Whatsapp has left the people talking about its worthiness. Though, Facebook founder CEO Mark Zuckerberg has explained as to why his company has agreed to pay a whopping $19bn to acquire the messaging service WhatsApp.

It may seem a pure business deal but the kind of money Facebook has agreed to pay the surging WhatsApp reveals the largest social networking site's ultimate aim: to remain on top of its competitors. So, it bought the most popular messaging service, the WhatsApp.

With acquisition of the service which already has around 450 million users, mostly youth, Facebook, which adds around 1.2 billion users monthly, will continue to stay at the heart of social networking.

Additionally, Whatsapp has a huge mobile user base and this deal is going to enable Facebook to dominate the mobile social platform.

Very much like what they did to Instagram, Whatsapp will remain a separate entity, as explained by Mark Zuckerberg in the statement he released after Facebook's decision to buy the messaging service.

PREGNANT WOMAN WHO CLAIMS SHE WAS GANG-RAPED BY SEVEN MEN FACES DEATH PENALTY IN SUDAN

A nine-months pregnant teenager who claims she was raped by seven men in Sudan is now facing the death penalty after being charged with adultery.

The married Ethiopian woman was just 18 years old, and three months pregnant, when she was subjected to the attack in August last year. She says she was searching for a new home in Omdurman,  near the capital Khartoum, and one of the seven accused lured her into an empty property on the premises of renting it out to her and her husband.

She was attacked and held down while a group of men, reportedly aged between 18 and 22, took turns in raping her, according to the Strategic Initiative for Women in the Horn of Africa (SIHA) network.
Her ordeal was filmed by one of the perpetrators and was circulated on social media via WhatsApp several months after the attack.

(PHOTOS) 26 DEAD IN UKRAINE AFTER MASSIVE ANTI-GOVERNMENT PROTEST.

Thick, dark smoke rose above the centre of the Ukrainian capital amid the boom of police stun grenades on Wednesday, as officers in riot gear sought to push demonstrators away from the city's main square following deadly clashes between police and protesters that left at least 25 people dead and hundreds injured and raised fears of a civil war.

After several hours of relative calm, confrontation flared up again Wednesday afternoon, with hundreds of police amassing on the edges of Independence Square, known as the Maidan, throwing stun grenades and using water cannons in a bid to disperse protesters.

Thousands of activists armed with fire bombs and rocks held their ground, defending the square which has been a bastion and symbol for the demonstrators.

EX-MILITANTS AND JONATHAN'S RE-ELECTION BID.

The build-up to the February 2015 general elections, especially as it concerns the fate of President Goodluck Jonathan in the February 14 presidential election has been generating ripples across of the country.

The controversy over the presidential poll assumed a new twist following the argument for and against the eligibility of Jonathan to seek re-election for the highest political office in the country and Jonathan’s kinsmen in the Niger Delta, especially those of Ijaw stock, who probably smelt a rat over alleged clandestine moves by some powerful political gladiators to edge him out of the contest have mustered concerted efforts to back and protect “their own” in the countdown to the election.

2FACE LAUGHS OFF IMPREGNATING BANKER RUMOURS.

International act, 2face Idibia has laughed off rumour that he impregnated his account officer, noting that his life is an open book and he will not be afraid to take responsibility for his action.

The social media was filled with rumour of the alleged pregnancy, with some of them even mentioning the name of the lady in question and the bank she allegedly work with. It was also alleged that the Africa queen crooner has pleaded with the lady to abort the pregnancy with a promise of financial reward.

BLOATED COST OF PACIFICATION IN THE NIGER DELTA REGION

The observation by a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Bukola Saraki, that several aspects of the belated 2014 Appropriation Bill failed to give priority to critical sectors; and that it is a blueprint for fiscal recklessness and leakages in government expenditure, are quite distressing. Particularly worrisome is the allocation of N54 billion to the Presidential Amnesty Programme meant to rehabilitate Niger Delta restive youths (militants), vis-à-vis the N46 billion voted as capital expenditure for the military and the nation’s police.

Saraki, a former chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF), noted, for instance, the dangers of increased extra-budgetary spending and the impunity with which agencies, including the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), spent public funds; and serial breaches of budget implementation rules by civil servants. He equally regretted that the budget process had become a mere procedural ritual designed to fulfil a legal condition, rather than a scrutiny on efficient resource allocation and use for the improvement of the welfare of the people. He said N54 billion was budgeted for stipends and allowances for 30,000 Niger Delta militants as follows: Presidential Amnesty Programme (N23.6bn) and Reintegration of Transformed Ex- Militants’ (N35.4bn), while the total capital budget for the Nigerian Army was N4.8bn; and that of the Ministry of Defence Headquarters – Army, Navy and Air Force – was N34.2bn. Saraki likewise flayed a situation where desktop computers would be purchased for N2 million each under the budget of the Ministry of Education, or N1 million each in the Ministry of Works, whereas the market price of each unit is N200,000.

NNPC MUST BE TAMED NOW.

WHO authorised the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation to unilaterally subsidise the price of kerosene? Unable to satisfactorily answer this simple question, the corporation and its backers in government have been dishing out unconvincing justifications and rebukes to its critics. But the emerging picture is that of a state-owned agency that operates unencumbered by checks or censure and where corruption and impunity have reached unimaginable levels.

At the heart of the latest scandal is money accruable to the Federation Account that, according to the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Lamido Sanusi, ought to have been remitted by the NNPC. Revising his earlier estimates, Sanusi told the Senate Committee on Finance that NNPC had failed to account for $20 billion of the $67 billion realised from crude oil sales. Since the issue of missing funds cropped up, the NNPC, the Ministry of Petroleum Resources and, curiously, the Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, have been at pains to debunk the claims. After meetings among them, including Sanusi and the Director of Budget, Bright Okogu, to “reconcile the accounts,” CBN now agrees that $47 billion has been accounted for. While Sanusi had initially insisted that $12 billion was still unaccounted for, Okonjo-Iweala and NNPC only agreed that $10.8 billion (N1.68 trillion at N156 to US$1) was yet to be “reconciled.” Later, the NNPC claimed it had “legitimately” spent about 80 per cent or $8.76 billion (N1.366 trillion) on kerosene subsidy, partly on petrol subsidy and the rest on repairs to damaged pipelines.

SMOKE IN A PUBLIC PLACE AND GO TO JAIL - FASHOLA SIGNS LAW BANNING SMOKING IN PUBLIC PLACES IN LAGOS.

A piece of bad news for smokers in the city of Lagos. I personally support this though.

Governor Babatunde Fashola has signed a bill banning smoking in public places in Lagos State, southwest Nigeria, into law.

With the signing of the bill into law today, nobody can smoke in public places anymore in Lagos State as offenders would be made to pay fine or go to jail. The Lagos State House of Assembly had recently passed a bill banning smoking in public places and placed fine of N10,000, three months imprisonment or both for first offenders.

The bill for a law to prohibit smoking in designated places and vehicles, which was sponsored by Gbolahan Yishawu, the lawmaker representing Eti-Osa Constituency 2 at the House, had lingered since last year.

THE SALE OF JUMIA TO FOREIGN INVESTORS...GOOD OR BAD DECISION?

Two young Nigerians founded the online retail store "JUMIA", barely 2 years after, it became a household name catering for the needs of many but..........the founders have sold the company.  Read why they took such a crirtical decision as reported by "The Nation".

Emotions ran high the day co-founders of Jumia Raphael Afeador and Tunde Kehinde broke the news to their young team of 500 experts at their Ogba, Ikeja, Lagos campus that new owners are taking over the business.

Inside the long horizontal office dormitory built beside their 90,000-square foot-warehouse, the largest campus in West Africa, where young men with an average age of 23 attend to thousands of online shoppers at the speed of light, Afeador, noted: “Jumia was an exciting one and a-half-year journey for us. We are extremely proud of Jumia and wish all the best to the company and all the people here.”

BOKO HARAM MURDERS MORE THAN 100 PEOPLE IN BORNO STATE AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No fewer than 100 people were, weekend, killed in separate attacks in Baga and Izge villages of Kukawa and Gwoza local government areas of Borno State, by Boko Haram insurgents, who also reportedly wounded several others and destroyed property worth millions of Naira. This came as President Goodluck Jonathan said in Lagos, yesterday, that the security challenges facing the country would have been worse without prayers from religious groups across the country.

It has also emerged that the Federal Government may be under pressure to open fresh negotiations with the terrorist group.

President Jonathan, who spoke at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Olive Tree Parish, in Banana Island, Lagos thanked Christians and other religious groups for their prayerful intercessions for the country. He said, but for their prayers, Nigeria would have been worse than it is in terms of the security challenges.

However, the Military High Command has now suspended further rotation of troops deployed to the North East region to fight the Boko Haram terrorists over alleged discovery that troops now play hide and seek to avoid being killed by the terrorists. The order banning further rotation of troops every six months came into effect on February 3.

Aside the weekend attacks, investigations by Vanguard showed that  the Boko Haram terrorists had killed over 200 people within the last few weeks as well as inflicting severe wounds on residents who lost property worth billions of naira in Konduga, Gwoza and Kukawa council areas of Borno State.

Vanguard gathered from reliable sources that the attack in Baga village bordering the Chad Republic Friday evening, claimed 10 lives, while the Izge massacre at the Cameroon border with  Borno State yesterday morning also left 90 people dead.

(PHOTOS) PRESIDENT JONATHAN'S PRIVATE VISIT TO TRADITIONAL RULERS OF 4 APC CONTROLLED STATES.

President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday continued consultations on his political direction in Lagos in meetings with stakeholders and solicitations for prayers for the country from religious leaders.

In a surprising development, the president, however, left regional leaders of his party out of the consultations as many of them expressed surprise on the president’s business in the nation’s commercial capital city.

The president’s efforts to woo support for his political future in the south was also being helped in the north by efforts by the new national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Alhaji Adamu Mu‘azu to break the ranks of the opposition in the north as represented by All Progressives Congress, APC.

A NATION WITHOUT EMPATHY - FEMI FANI-KAYODE

A few days ago (12th February 2014) in Borno state Boko Haram killed 60 innocent Nigerians and carted off 24 young girls without any trace. On January 27th 2014 no less than 70 innocent Nigerians were murdered in cold blood by Boko Haram in a series of attacks in Borno and Adamawa states.

On January 14th 2014 at least 50 innocent Nigerians were blown to pieces by a Boko Haram suicide bomber in  the heart of Maiduguri, the capital of Borno state. Not too long before then they attacked an army barracks in Borno, killed 200 soldiers, carted off the wives and children of our military personnel and burnt the barracks to the ground.

A few weeks prior to that, numerous schools were attacked and hundreds of our children were either shot to death, hacked to pieces or had their throats cut and blood drained. Consequently many schools have been closed down in Borno and Yobe states respectively.

A few weeks back no less than 160 of our soldiers were killed by Boko Haram in one skirmish simply because they ran out of bullets. Worst still it has been generally acknowleged that the Boko Haram fighters are better equipped and better supplied than our soldiers. Goodness me....what a mess.

Finally no less than 130 churches were burnt down in Borno state in 2013 alone and the Catholic Church alone lost 53 churches out of that figure. All in all Nigeria has lost almost 8000 innocent civilians to Boko Haram in the last three years and that includes women and children. It does not however include the vast number of women that have been captured and kidnapped by them and that are now being used as sex-slaves.
